I feel like the match maker is just really bad at making matches that are even right now, so games are roll or be rolled, more than an actual hard fought battle. You loose a game and get put against players way lower in skill than you, the next you go masters lobbies. And ultimately the fact that decides how the game goes is if you get lucky with your team mates and the enemy unlucky with theirs. That creates a 50/50, as a result of random chance.

@@nosferatustg7675 if you never had big loose/win streak - you don't play comp enough I've played everywhere from silver to 4.4 and at least once a season i either win 10 games in a row or loose them. For example at the end of season 3 i won a lot and made it gm1 and then at the start of season 4 i dropped to master 1 And in ow2 rank is especially broken because a lot of diamond/plat players got boosted my matchmaking and flooded GM. So it's totally possible that you will have a lot of good/bad players in a row

I think my biggest Overwatch accomplishment is how I went from low/middle gold rarely watching top 500 and gm players/streamers because their games looked the same to being able to recognize the huge difference.

I am a new player, I haven't been ranked in any role yet, but my win ratio is about 3% of the matches. I started playing ranked, hoping it would match me with skilled players, but I keep constantly getting told I am doing everything wrong and the worst player people have seen. I am not taking it personally as I am new and absolutely suck at times and against certain team combos, but it's not me, it's the matchmaking. For some reason, the preliminary ranking for tank has me diamond in tank! I can tell you, I am far from that.

i have an idea for a series. always queue with someone where their last game is the opposite of you whether your last game is a win or a loss. So if you lost your last game, find someone to queue where their last game was a win. And if you Won your last game, queue with someone who just lost and change it every game.

Out of my 205 s3 games played, 100 are losses, the other 100 are wins, and the last 5 are wins just before I stopped playing competitive in s3. ALL of these games, were in a streak pattern with at least 5 losses and 5 wins alternating. Sometimes even going up to 8 losses and wins in a row. There were NEVER any win lose win lose EVER in those 205 games.

This discussion is primarily treating a qualitative issue as a quantitative one. Over a small sample size, going 0-10 or 10-0 are not meaningful on their own (nor is 5-5 or 10-10 or 20-20). And over time, going 50/50 is what properly balanced games should deliver. If you're winning, say 55% of games over time, you're not facing equal opponents. The issue is how the games are won or lost. If they're all close, then those runs are just standard variance. You're getting balanced games, **that's why they're close**. Now, if it's all roll-or-be-rolled, and games are either impossible to win or so easy you could play one handed, **then** that's an issue - and yeah, that does seem to be the issue many people have. But that is a qualitative issue, so spending time discussing the quantitative is missing the point.

Even now it's the same. You get an entire owl team against you and the next game you get the owl team on your side. The only difference is when you start, if you lose against better players its time to stop instantly. Because you either end on the same rank you started or less percent than you started.

30% of games are unloseable 30% of games are supposed to be unwinnable. It's what you do with the other 30% that matters. This is how it is in most competitive games. If your average SR is gold 3 and their average SR is gold 2 there's no reason you can't win. The problem is you only have 1 play style and expect it work every time

@@deusvult6920 That would be true if the roles were locked to rank(IE: Youre a diamond tank facing a diamond tank) but that isnt the case. Different ranks in different roles provide different value. So expecting the diamond support to pop off like the enemy diamond tank where your gold tank is struggling to stay alive because they're locking the back line down for diamond support to be busy will throw your game, at no lack of trying on your part.
