People always ask me why I don't buy a house, new car, bigger apartment, expensive clothes/jewelry or whatever. But I'm 62 and I did all that stuff. I earned a 6-figure salary and spent every dime. Then something changed after I turned 50 and realized I had nothing saved for retirement. I sold everything, paid off all my debt and starting saving 70% of my income. Now my priority is having a big pile of cash so I can live a simple life without all those things for the next 20+ years.

My car’s a 2010 Toyota. I live near the beach; rust eventually eats at your vehicle…I recently went and had the undercarriage of my car scraped of all the rust under there. I then took it to my mechanic who coated the undersides with rust proof protection. All of that cost me $285…I now have a car that could probably last me another 10-15 years, because of course, it’s paid for!

Choose 3-6 ingredients onions, garlic, carrots, celery, or add tomatoes, herbs etc. Sauté, or blanch veggies in boiling water & freeze between baking paper in a rectangular dish. Remove frozen discs and re-package them safely in bundles. Pre-cook bolognaise or lasagna sauces without pasta. Assemble anytime later. It’s a game changer for busy people. If using canned beans for one, freeze the rest for soups. Bake bread heel cubes for Caesar salad croutons. Bake an extra potato, add mayo mixed with crushed cooked egg yolk, ham, scallions. An easy potato salad for work. I buy bulk butter & freeze half, also nuts for satays, coffee.

My house has never been appraised for that much ever, so why would they raise it to that much when I have ALWAYS had it insured for $250,000. I told the lady I want it back down to $250,000 that dropped my bill $786 a yr, n now I'm paying even less than I was paying, by $20. It is a hassle but like u say 15 minutes is all it takes

My maternal grandparents born 1901 and 1902 had 10 children lived on a farm and fed many people during the Depression. Grandmother died 1950 full term with 11th child. Religion stated birth control was a sin. She fed many people in the community. In the 80s when I took my grandfather to town people were thanking him stating they would not be alive if not for the food he provided. He remarried again and Grammie told me how terrible the Depression was to get through. Her first husband developed a heart problem unable to work later died. They lived in town. She cried talking about how terrible it was. I have never forgotten how she explained how she had to sift out the weevils from flour to make bread. It was a horrible experience and many people had PTSD which no one knew. How many people will feed their communities or neighbors now? I have no idea. Very scary times.

I live in Northern California and try to save like nobody. I screamed at the electric gas company because they just said they're going to put a surplus on electric. So if you make a certain amount they're going to charge you. For us it was $55 dollars. That's somewhat what we pay sometimes on electric between $55-75 a month. My hands went up into the air. I was lucky my husband taught me how to cook. I buy vegetables that cost less and can be used in multiple dishes. Carrots, celery (even though I used to pay fifty cents before the juicing), onion, potatoes, garlic, cabbage, sometimes broccoli and cauliflower. Sometimes kale when in season. I even dice the stem of the kale and cook them more. Cauliflower and broccoli have a stem you can use too. If my husband has any bones even when we are eating off the bones, I take and make broth. I hand dry herbs that I grow on our apartment deck and some vegetables too. Last year I bought a small counter oven because I could use less energy. Same with turning off certain things to save electricity. I happen to land on your channel and I like it

I know, not cheap, yet some how I know you can do it, if there is a way. Mike and I live in a 1927 Stone cottage home and it has an unfinished 2nd story. At first we didn’t realize how much warmer it is UPSTAIRS, and so for couple of years we froze and we weren't as smart as you with electric blankets and vests and socks. Now, in our upstairs it's oh so warm, like 72°, you feel human and I know you know what I mean by this. We shut the house heat off at night, in the morning, we use a small room heater and we turn on the Central heat only til it gets warmed up, doesn't take long.

You asked us to report back what happens when calling AAA about Auto and other insurance and so here goes. I spoke to a gentleman from there who first told me that he didn't think that my coverages were high enough and he didn't really like to work with people that don't have higher amounts! My car is 10 years old, although I have pretty low miles, but anyway my coverage is more than adequate. I own my car outright. I have full coverage and I also carry pip, but he didn't think the amounts were enough. I live in Washington State which does not offer uninsured motorist, they only offer underinsured motorist and that's why I have pip. This man who is an insurance broker is telling me that I can get uninsured motorist in Washington State, then he backpedals and says it's wrapped up into underinsured but I don't need underinsured motorist. Then he tells me he doesn't think that I would have many options because I have a Kia Rio and right now there are a lot of them being stolen. I told him that I use my car's alarm system and I also use a steering wheel locking device. Then he said I'm probably getting the best rate what's my current carrier. Wow, I'm glad to not be working with them but I didn't expect someone to try to shame me into purchasing coverage I don't need.

Don’t call a broker. Call AAA directly and ask for a quote. Then compare it to what you are currently paying. Brokers work on commission
@BeautyIsMyLife Жыл бұрын
@PrepperPrincess I did call AAA and then they had one of their agents call me back. They said how AAA works is they find insurance for you, sort of like a broker.

I have called around various insurance companies. Everyone tells me they cannot beat the price of my current coverage. My dad put me on State Farm when I was 18 and I have been with them my entire life. I'm now 64. They say my policy is "grandfathered " whatever that means. I guess it pays to be loyal to a company. Who would have known?

I live rural, where there is no wifi to reduce my gig use. I have 2 cell phones, and pay $70. per month. However, that $70. pays for all my internet (hotspots), phone, and TV needs. I have had Roku's since 2012, when I cut cable, and don't pay for any streaming services.

I bought my own modem, but I had so much trouble staying connected (with Comcast) that I had to go back to renting theirs. No problems with theirs. I’m sure they were scrambling it somehow, but anyway my own modem didn’t work. It wasn’t worth the trouble.

My homeowners insurance was going to increase by $900 a year. I called around and found another policy that was just a little more than my original plan. I always bundle and my car insurance was less with the new policy and my motorcycle insurance went from over $100 a year to just $28 a year. Now I'm paying less than I was originally for the entire package with the same coverage.

When my kids were little my mil would buy us a 1 year zoo pass. We would pack lunch & have a blast. Ask for zoo or aquarium or museum passes for Christmas or birth days or if they ask what can I do?

I save money by not having home wifi, i just run everything off the hotspot on my phone including the TV with streaming. I'm in the UK but my sim only contract is £20 a month unlimited social media/internet type contract with vodaphone which is much better signal than my previous provider O2.

A big tip: It is cheaper for me to use two newish preloved family’s cell phones and two basic level plans, as the data is huge, and I use them to hotspot other devices. One phone is iOS, one Android. The one provider rolls over any unused monthly data for me. I also claim one phone as a business expense as I’m on call sometimes. I speak to my utility provider twice per year, and change them if needed. I ensure I mainly use off peak and I also have solar. I only ever use a small flashlight if getting up for water at night, or going to the garage. Compare your current in use heaters costs - gas v electricity. Only take the chill off the room if it’s not winter. Another great video. Thx PP 🥰

States generally have an insurance department. They rate the status of companies. It is a good thing to peruse when shopping for new service.

I bought my car a Honda off of Facebook marketplace right before the pandemic started up. I suggest anyone that will get a car from marketplace to have some kind of savings because the car will need some type of repairs to get it on the road. And also make sure that someone that knows carswell go with you to check out the car
