I could suggest "Back to the Future 3" to finish out those reactions. Not to bang a drum, but you two seemed to like the first two, and I know you you kinda got distracted from seeing the 3rd. No worries if you don't want to, I was just wondering. Thoughts? 😁 . A good jumping of point could be the AFI (American Film Institute) top 100 films.

Suggestions: "The Negotiator" (1998) Samuel Jackson and Kevin Spacey square off in the ultimate police negotitation with a hostage taker. "Shoot to Kill" (1988) Sidney Poitier teams up with Tom Berenger to rescue a very young Kristie Alley. I didn't know who Poitier was but I recognized him to be a great actor. "The Thing" (1982) a young Kurt Russell faces off against an unknown enemy in a remote research station in Antartica.

Suggestions: "To Live and Die in LA" (1985) ... little known police, actually secret service, movie with a young Willem Dafoe. The music is by Wang Chung and I think fantastic in many parts of the movie. It also has what has to be the best car chase in any movie at least up to that point. If you have subwoofers in your sound system, this will really make them work at times (BTW the ultimate test of a movie sound system is the beginning of the original Top Gun)

Avoided it when in theater, ended up renting it on VHS one day after someone told me it was worth a watch, they were clearly right. Terrific fish out of water comedy with great performances by Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei, as well as the rest of the cast including Fred Gwynne who passed away not long after this film was shot. Think one of the main things for me was up until then, I had never thought of Pesci as a comedic actor. Having mostly seen him in gangster dramas where if there was any humor it was of the scary threatening kind. Really wish that there had been a sequel to this one, heard rumors over the years, but either timing or bad scripts kept it from happening.

"It is possible that the two yutes..." "...Ah, the two what? Uh... uh, what was that word?" "Uh... what word?" "Two what?" "What?" "Uh... did you say yutes?" "Yeah, two yutes." "What is a yute?" "Oh, excuse me, your honor... Two YOUTHS." I love this movie. There's no real bad guy in this movie (except if you consider the real murderers) and once the innocence of Bill and Stan becomes clear, all charges are dropped. Fun Fact: The misunderstanding between Vincent Gambini and Judge Haller (Fred Gwynne) regarding the two "youts" was in fact a real conversation between Joe Pesci and director Jonathan Lynn. Lynn, who is British, at first had a hard time understanding Pesci's pronounced New York accent. He decided that the routine was quite funny and put it in the film. Wise Owl Fact: According to director Jonathan Lynn, the eastern screech owl in the scene in the woods was a real owl that had a little prior training so it wouldn't be scared away by the gunfire. The crew got it to open its mouth by giving it little pieces of beef, and artificially induced screeches were added to the film in post production. The owl's reaction to Vinny (Joe Pesci) shooting the gun was authentic and needed only one take. Law Enthusiast Fact: Director Jonathan Lynn actually has a law degree and insists the film's legal proceedings be realistic. In fact, many attorneys and law professors have praised the film for its accurate depiction of trial strategy and courtroom procedure, especially with regards to presenting expert witnesses at trial. In fact, the film has been screened at some law schools to illustrate courtroom procedures. The American Bar Association's publication, the ABA Journal, ranked the film #3 on its list of the 25 Greatest Legal Movies.

Don't know if either of you ever heard of an old TV show called the Munsters. The judge (Fred Gwynne) played Herman Munster, the guy who looked like Frankenstein.

I saw this in the theater when I was 13 and have always loved it. Marisa Tomei is so great. She won the oscar for her performance. Another movie she's great in is Untamed Heart with Christian Slater. It's a tearjerker.

The judge Fred Gwynne played Herman Munster on the Munster's TV sitcom. A funny series if you haven't seen it.

In today's world, you know to wash the gun residue off your hand with the hand sanitizer in your glovebox! But, the discovery of gun residue on hands for forensic purposes was used long before this movie, as early as 1933.

This is actually one of the most accurate movies when it comes to detailing court procedures and and how to examine witnesses with many lawyers saying that it should be used in law schools to give students an idea of what to expect.

The 1 stretch I've always thought is that the guys were driving a very specific classic car in a very specific color of mint green in rural Alabama which is the only reason they were tied to the crime because the actual robbers drove the EXACT same thing in the EXACT same color to a non car person. It's not like they were driving a typical regular sedan or something that anyone could confuse a Toyota with a Ford and it was black or maybe dark blue, or maybe white vs a silver or gray.

Fun reaction, girls, and original pick. I loved that movie when I was a teen, but I totally forgot about it since. Which is scary, because while I don't know if the film is "cute", what's as sure as eggs are eggs is that Marisa Tomei is the cutest thing that happened to the nineties. The movie isn't perfect by a long shot, the trial is a little silly, even by a comedy's standards, and Vinny goes too quickly from incredibly incompetent to super competent, but still, the jokes work very well. Love the judge.

The thing that made this movie for me was the hidden hero. All through the movie, you have Vinny trying to be successful. Lisa is there, asking if she can help. We don't really know Lisa. Until the end, we don't know that she's into cars; turns out she's a freaking genius mechanic with cars. She's the one you'd want to work on your car at a garage. And the whole movie has her dressed up and gorgeous, giving the impression that she's Lisa, dressed up and gorgeous. But then the reveal at the end, when the prosecution tries to trick her with a bogus question. What would she know, right? She's an unemployed hairdresser. Then she FACES the prosecution. I'm really big on smart, accomplished women; so this is one of my favorites movies. Thanks for doing this one, guys!
