Hmm. I think it’s important to realise that some mothers/MIL can be very toxic so them not liking your partner is not always in indication that your partner is not the one for you. A lot of people be going through it with their families etc

This video was lovely in so many ways . And I feel for both of you as you unpack some of the trauma experienced. However, There were some aspects of your emotional trauma that you experienced that I felt were more a discussion for the two of you and less for all of us to see especially as you hadn’t mentioned it to her before. And you know our Yoruba parents don’t like all this off guard antics 😅 I say that as a Yoruba girl who experienced a lot of physical and emotional trauma from her parents as well. You can see it in her body language and her eyes when you say “I’ll never forget this day.” but that being said props to both of you for having the courage to share the intimacy of some of the things discussed. It’s a huge step forward for Nigerian families seeing as so many have been plagued with a lack of emotional and psychological safety and even though I may have had this conversation slightly different if it were me, I’m glad to see it starting somewhere.
