thanks for sharing your journey. I'm working on a 2005 4.0 Explorer not charging.

I'm pretty sure you can get one for bigger office but really it's a size of altering not the regulator regulator only convert alternating current into DC current cuz she generates AC current

Im trying to get mine to work. No luck yet, maybe brushes

You need a slip ring, might have a faulty 3 pin connector or rectifier, make sure you connect the ground post on the back to a ground
@tomconner96955 жыл бұрын
Theres a test sequence, continuity, diode, ohms, your wiring is obviously fine, i saw the grooves in your slip ring, let us know!

Is that one place where you bolt a wire to the alternator the positive or negative polarity? Where is the other, minus? The body? Thank you.

having the opposite problem... overcharging (meter goes to 15-16V and I can smell the wiring getting hot)

Hi, which tools will I need to replace the voltage regulator? Will I need a torques bit? Thank you.

For my 2001 Focus with a 2.0 Zetec it's 3 bolts with a T20 head.

Can these regulators be adjusted or come in a higher voltage

Brushes roasted your slip ring

Rolling Thunder ECM adjusting charging voltage based on battery temperature. Of course there's not a battery temperature sending unit, so the computer uses intake air or coolant temperature to control the voltage regulator. A battery charges more efficiently at different voltages depending on how hot or cold the electrolyte within the battery is. A battery is cold when you initially start the engine and therefore needs a higher voltage input for optimum charging efficiency. As the engine warms, charging voltage decreases slightly to prevent boiling electrolyte.

@@beerggls thank you i mean it makes sense what your saying i will research it further. If i want to add a 2nd alternator do i wire it in parrelel?
@beerggls3 жыл бұрын
Rolling Thunder Yeah if you want 12 V. Series wiring would get 24 V with two 12 V alternators. (12v/14v/12.6v, whatever)

You are attempting to show the viewers what your working on ,yet your not putting the item in front of the camera lense. To low, out of screen .

I thought the purpose of this video is to show people how to test a voltage regulator, all your doing is throwing parts at your car and hope it works.

I see your online....I'm changing my old alt with a 300 amp alt, but the new alt doesn't hav3 a spot for the 3 wire that plugs back into the alt. Do you have any idea what the side wire is for

My question is about the gauges you have on the lcd. Does that plug into your obd2 system for the information? And can you give information on where to find one?
