Cool video. These engine are fun to tear into. Basic easy to work on. I had a 88 years ago started everytime never let me down. I sold it. Years later I got a 1979 and still working on it today. and also the timing gear is fiber to keep noise down however the teeth break easy. The old ones are better made from iron but chatter.

Glad this video helped! I keep looking at this build: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIi5eKBjfrpqmM0. I love the lope at idle! Unfortunately, the cam I went with will not have a lope as it is optimized for boost, fuel injection and smooth idle. Check out the FordSix forums, lots of good info and helpful people there!

@@TheRedneckStig that 300 in that video is so clean and simple! have you read anything on clifford 6=8, basically the guys at clifford came out with parts to push your towing and horsepower ratings up to a "V8" level,
@TheRedneckStig6 жыл бұрын
@@TroyAnthony25 From what I have heard Clifford's claims are pretty exaggerated and the quality of some of their products, such as cams, can be on the lower side. There is some improvement to be had with a better flowing intake and exhaust, and a cam helps a little, but the real increases come in the cylinder head. Since there are no aftermarket cylinder heads available (some guys on the FordSix forums are working on their own castings that may pop up in the next few months), you are left with porting the stock head and having the head machined to accept oversize valves. I am working on porting my head, then will take it to a racing machine shop to put in oversize valves. They also have a flow bench, so I can see the amount of air that flows through the ports. Basically, the more air you can get through an engine, the more fuel you can mix in and more power you will make. I will make a video on this in the coming months when all of the work has been completed..

Is there a second video of the Ford 4.9L inline 6? I learned a bit by watching you disassemble it, now I'm held in suspense on how you'll rebuild it.😀👍🏼
@johnparrish92156 жыл бұрын
If you want a larger Throttle Body, the 460 EFI throttle body is shaped the same as yours but flows a lot more air. Might need to fab an adapter plate. maybe. For Rocker Arms, Big Block Chevy rockers fit and give you additional valve lift. 1.75 to 1 vs 1.6 to 1

looking forward to the next video! I am also in the process of rebuilding a 300. well, actually I have finished the internals like 6 months ago. but I am a professional procrastinator, and still haven't put the external parts on..... working on cleaning the intake/exhaust manifolds (randomly for a month, lol)
@gregwarner37534 жыл бұрын
There is a lot if information on this engine as well as general rebuilds. RTFM before you put a wrench on that thing. Also set up a place to place all the parts. Dropping the new tools on the floor gives a clue about this rebuild.

8/1/2019 UPDATE: I am currently working on the stock motor currently in the truck to prepare for low boost, which will help me get all of the turbo stuff setup and dialed in, and more importantly have the truck driveable with BOOST and cool choo choo noises. After that I will begin more work on this high performance engine, the biggest road block being ordering custom forged pistons that will be in the $1,500-2,000 range. More turbo related content will be uploaded in the next month or two if everything goes as planned.

Hey man don't know if it is finished but what size belt did you run for the smog pump delete? I need a size for on with A/C and power steering
@TheRedneckStig6 жыл бұрын
I removed all of the smog stuff on my stock 300. The stock catalytic converter has a metal tube coming from it for air injection, this will need to be plugged or even better the cat replaced with a high flow cat. Depending on the year of your truck and what state you live in you may have to have cats to keep it legal. When I installed headers on my stock truck I removed the EGR, air injection, and had a whole new exhaust made from the collectors back with dual glasspacks, dual cats, x-pipe, and dual chrome tailpipes. The belt I used for the smog pump delete is 6PK2110. You can make an EGR blockoff plate from aluminium flat bar by tracing the gasket and cutting it to shape with an angle grinder. You will want to plug the smog injection ports in the cylinder head. I used 1/4" brass MIT plugs, you can find them on eBay. Coat the threads with high temp sealant (I used high temp JB weld, good for 1200*F or something like that) and snug them down. Removing this stuff will give you a check engine light and may actually hurt performance and mileage, however, my truck is now powered by Megasquirt, a standalone tunable ECU that replaces the stock one. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Good luck!

@@CarlosHernandez-lb5fu hard to know what type of knocking unless you post a video or something. As silly as it sounds I've heard of dented valve covers or too thin a valve cover gasket can cause a rocker to tap the valve cover and cause a knocking noise. Usually with aftermarket but can't hurt to check. How's oil pressure? Lifters are from a reputable manufacturer?
@CarlosHernandez-lb5fu2 жыл бұрын
@@TheRedneckStig the oil pressure is good, I also change the rocker bolts, when I torque them I wiggle the rockers but some of them don't move but when I rotate the crank shaft pulley, other rockers are tight and others not.

Hey man I think this is an Awsome build up first and foremost. Can you list all parts You purchase in all videos. There are a few videos on the i6 from power nation they got 305hp out of one of these. I’m having issues figuring out what parts are needed to get a stronger more ponies from my 300.And keep it up man I have a 4.9 I’m rebuilding from ground up. I want to have a stout motor then add a turbo just like you’re doing I’m glad I’m not the only one interested in a “budget” build i6 turbo charged monster. you want ideas or to talk I’m on fb.
@TheRedneckStig6 жыл бұрын
I saw the PowerNationTV build, I think it was 205 HP and 305 TQ. They didn't do any head work though. I am working on porting a cylinder head and getting it machined for oversize valves, which should help a LOT with power. In my final assembly video I will have a full list, since I am still gathering parts.

Ha ha ha ha, very funny, try some wd40 on lifters before trying to remove them and if you werer taking the head to a machine shop stripping it was a total waste of time. And the impact wrench can be used in the whole tear down, and never remove the crank bolts before the rod caps.
