I've got one with 6640 stickers but after checking serial number, it's actually a 7740! Had the same problems with fuel primer, I'll try the trick you did with the plate and 12 volt pump...good idea. My tractor has been bullet proof as well, its been very reliable and does a lit bit of everything on our farm. Best AC of anything we have and we need it in Alabama heat and humidity. Great video, THANKS from Alabama!

Thats nothing Local contractor had TM125 set up to over 200 horse no porblems was a literal pocket rocket pulled better than his 130, 2 x 140's,150,155,MXM155 and MXM 190 and a sic cylinder. Problems with 66 and 77 is the only have a wee 4 cylinder the 7840 was the start of teh 6 cylinder and the 83 sand 82 were the 7.5 litre Genesis known in the UK as powerstar . The early white roofs had to be modified if i remember they had a small fault with gearbox i think which was cured on Blue roof 40 series . i would say a 6640 is just a dowrated 7740 probably

Hey Dennis, great review. I have a Ford 6640 SL and love it. It’s been in my family sense new in 94. Oh yeah, great A/C too. Had some electrical issues with gauge cluster and like you the fuel primer. I started looking at adding a turbo, looks very doable, looks like the turbo uses the same manifold. Biggest expense will be turbo and muffler and a few oil lines and intake tube from the original air filter, pretty easy. About $1,000 or so. My question is, do I have to turn up the fuel pump? Or if I don’t will I hurt anything. Is turning up the pump just a simple adjustment? Thanks for all the videos I enjoy them very much.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 3 жыл бұрын
There isn’t much point in doing it unless you turn up the fuel. More air needs more fuel. You kinda need to have it in a Dyno when you start messing with the fuel though run it up to about 98 pto hp.

We have a 5610S , and I was looking at the valve cover on it and I did some research. It has the motor cover stamp of the 6610 motor. So my question is how do I tell the difference in the 5610s motor and the 6610S motor. The factory may have put the wrong description cover on the valve cover or perhaps they put the wrong motor in it? What are your thoughts?
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+Georgia Swampman. I'm pretty sure the motors are the exact same on those two tractors, the difference is fuel delivery to give the 6610 more power.
@georgiaswampman4542
@georgiaswampman4542 7 жыл бұрын
According to tractor data. 5610 has 4.4 and 6610 is a 5.0 . Our 5610 has the 5.0 plate description on the valve cover. I was wondering if there was some casting stamps on the block that would indicate better from factory. Thanks for any help. I know this tractor has always seemed very strong for its size. We bought it brand new, so nobody else has tinkered with it.
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+Georgia Swampman. Maybe they put the wrong decals on the side of it. Lol
@DLHFarms
@DLHFarms 7 жыл бұрын
+Georgia Swampman. That's kind of strange that a 5610 would have a 6610 engine in it. I'm not sure of any casting marks or if you can tell any difference in the engines by looking at them. Maybe have it run on a Dyno and see if the horse power is similar to the 6610. There should be a tag with and engine number on it somewhere, have your dealer run the engine numbers and see what it says. I know on the older tractors the tag was on the underside of the hood where the battery is.
@georgiaswampman4542
@georgiaswampman4542 7 жыл бұрын
This tractor was toward the end of production for this model. It is straight New Holland, no indication of Ford anywhere on it. There is a sticker under the hood, I will check it out also and see if it matches to the valve cover plate. Our Dealer, well unfortunately they are a joke. They promote more Mahindra than NH now.

+DLK HAY. Well I'm pretty sure that is the same tractor as my 6030 just with more horse power and if it is that is my current favorite tractor that I own, very comfortable, good visibility, big roomy cab, very reliable, and a strong 6 cylinder engine. Most people don't know this but they have almost the exact same head on the engine as a 5.9 Cummings. Cummings was involved in Designing the engine.

+Jared Cook. No injector change needed if it has the same engine that's in the 6640 and I think it does. Just put the turbo then turn up the pump, but you need to have the tractor hooked to a PTO Dyno so you can keep an eye on temps and not turn it up to much. We have our 6640 set at 98 PTO horse power and it seems to like it there, no heating unless the radiator gets plugged. Very little smoke too.
