If Ford (or any other manufacturer) wants to make a pile of cash all they need to do is produce a bare bones pickup truck. When I say bare bones I mean exactly that. Standard model is manual EVERYTHING from the windows to the transmission, single cab, rear wheel drive, 8ft bed. The only "fancy" feature included on the base model should be A/C. The original one was made of plastic but the new one is metal. I still use it, 266k miles now. All I did was change the motor oil at every 3,000 miles and a new set of tires and brake pads. I bought my wife a 2019 Ford F-150 brand new with only 4 miles on it. This was against my wishes as we just looked at a Voo Doo Blue TRD Pro Tundra and that's what I wanted her to get. Anyways, she got it and on the 4th day it just randomly shut off on her when driving. They reset the computer and called it good. At 26k miles there was a vibration in the front end, the tie rods needed to be replaced. Shortly thereafter, the CEL came on and it was the fuel vent solenoid valve, Ford did not cover it even thought the service manager said it was "a common problem". At around 52k miles the truck started shifting hard and it progressively got worse to where by 56k miles it would slam into 3rd gear really hard. So we warmed it up real good and drove to Toyota. My wife test drove a new 2022 Toyota Tundra. We signed the papers and and traded that pos truck in. The Tundra now has 40k miles on it and we haven't had a single issue since new. Ford is crap!
