Ford Capri powered by a Coyote V8- Is this the worlds fastest Capri?

Rumoured to be the best of the car builds from TV's Goblin Works.
They took a super clean 1987 Ford Capri 2.8i Special and installed a massive Coyote V8 engine from a Ford Mustang.
With over 400 bhp and a top speed of 170mph, this Capri slowed down enough for us to make a short sales promo video at the back end of 2020.
Now SOLD, terrorising the streets of Dublin, will it ever pound the pavements of Britain again?

I think it's an old clunker dressed up with some ridiculously oversized wheels with insufficient clearance for bumpy UK roads and a glossy black paint job. Not really a fan of the cigarette burned dashboard panels either. But to each their own.

Just , YES. No matter how you custom a car some people pick faults. It's their mission, they have never done anything except switch on their PC. I am in 100% with this ! 100% to the builders ! It doesn't need to be the fastest, or the best ever, it's just the product or a team, and its pretty fantastic from my POV, just a Capri fan that has seen many.

Thats a very smart looking Capri, the bodywork is immaculate. Love the flairs, not so sure about the 'lake pipes' and think it could look even better without them. But overall a fantastic beast - thanks for the video

Yup, I was one of those guys that didn't want one. Looking back now, I would've gone for the mk1 3 litre v6, I think they may have called it the face lift model, the first capri that had the quad lights and the fatter rear cluster lights. That one looked more tough looking than all the others that came before or after.

I am from Oakland California, I converted 1 of 2, 1976-1977 Capri's to 5.0 Mustang engines. Upgraded to the a the Mustang 5 spd Manual. I still believe I was the 1srt one to do it in the Oakland California area. I still have the 76'. The upgraded 77 was sold. Wish I still had it.

In Oakland California the Capris were there Own Group. Yes they had Muscle Cars, Mini Trucks, Sport Bikes and others but We are a very Special Group. That 3.0 Stick with the wind back roof. You have to be 1 of It Us to understand. Tune it right, Hit that 2nd gear and hear those wheels skirt.

I used to own a MK1 Capri Perana V8. The only production V8 Capri to exist. Use a 320 Windsor with a 450cfm Holley, 4 speed Borg Warner gearbox and the rear axle was from Australia especially made for the Perana. Only 500 were made as they were made for homologation purposes.

Had a friend with a Capri powered by a 427 side oiler. He set the class record at the Fremont drag strip back in the day. So I respectfully have to disagree with fastest. Over 180 mph was a thing in his car. But that is one fine, fine looking Capri!

I truly wish I could afford a 'second hand' Mk3 Capri. But sadly, those days are long gone. I think Ford should do a special restyle of the Mustang, with curved back windows and give it a 3L V6. Then they could call it a Capri. But they'll never do it. That would mean lowering the price and offering it to mere mortals.

I liked this build but IMHO it would look better to have four exhausts coming to the back two each side. Also prefer the standard lights without the grill or maybe that grill not covering the lights stopping before them . While im here different wheels VN47 vectors would look awesome 😎

Listen man you hear people say that the Capri was the UKs answer to the muscle 💪 car, but say what you will I fucking loved the Capri. In fact I'm not a car enthusiast but if I had the money to invest in a original frame Ford Capri with original chassi and original interior and engine then it's something that I would love to do and show some love to. I think the look of this Capri is sweet, people should do this more often with cars from yesterday.

@Gavin Tye Hi. The PERANA was awesome. I've seen a few of them and a Jeff Uren Stampede MK2 Capr, mega rare. That too is a great conversion. I went down the chevrolet 350 route and Don't regret it. Alot said put a ford in a ford but the truth is in the UK Ford don't give a damn about heritage and dont care less about keeping these on the road. How I see it...it my car not theirs. The fit and look is amazing you can't go wrong with ford 289's, 302's, 351's. Or 305, 327, 350 and a 383 chevy. All sold in their high millions. Even a standard engine is enough in a capri and sound amazing. Mine is a 3.0s mk3 and was a new shell. The 3.0 engine blew a piston so I put the V8 in!

@Ryan Atkinson The Chevy conversion was mega easy. Radiator mounts and slam panel cut away but better to drill out spot welds for a neater look. The slam panel was mostly kept and a piece put in to square off. I bought the radiator first and built it around that. The engine mounts I fabricated off the original cross member. I used my V6 one because the mounts are further back that a 4 cylinder one, I didn't use power steering and I find this not to be a problem. So mounting points were taken off a 4 cylinder crossmember and welded on. The gearbox mout needed fabricating as I used a 5 speed Tremec and the rear quarter of the tunnel needed to be raised by an inch or a bit more. That was mainly it. The result was 373 bhp and 440lbft at 3,500 rpm at the rear wheels. Drives fine and handles fine it also won 7 shows but I haven't driven it for 2 years due to health reasons and life in general! The reason I did it myself was because I was, nearly, ripped off by a V8 conversion specialist back in 2007. Long story that one! But the hard work was more pleasing and well worth it.

I just had an out-of-town love it great job great stuff job my God put a coyote in that small space wow! Installation look great but my one and only question being an extra time Capri owner, what do you have to do about 150 200 pounds of LED somewhere in the ass of that thing! Hydraulic press 302 Shelby prepared cobra in a Capri it took almost eight months and 150 lb of Shifting weight around so the car handled right then it was another story just stop the oversteer so much weight on the front axle! But my God to your insulation looks fantastic dude I just hope it drives well that things are deathtrap otherwise
