Ford Crown Victoria Evolution (1955 - 2012)

Ford Crown Victoria is probably most famous police car in the world. Many drivers still remember its distinctive shape in rear view mirror. And even to this day, when they see one of the Victorias on the road, drivers all around it starts driving suspiciously carefully... That is what called a presence of authority! This car sure doesn't lack any of it. But did you know, that Crown Victoria started it's life as a flagship luxury trim level of Ford Fairlane from 1955? Or that it's come back after 23 years was yet again - just a trim level of flagship Ford LTD variation? Until, of course, LTD and LTD Crown Victoria was split into different model range thanks to 1983 Ford division revision. And these are just a fraction of the history of this great automobile. It was discontinued in civilian sales 2007 because Ford wanted to kill it off, and try moving them into the 500 (now Taurus). Sales were fine in 2006. I've owned an 85 LTD Crown Victoria, an 89, and I still have my 05 P71 and 11 P7B. Never getting a new car again, don't need to

I have an 07 LX. Love my land yacht. I think Ford's excuse for discontinuing it is stupid. Their reasoning was due to the platform not being compatible with stability control. Uh, here's a thought, it had been 1997 since it saw a redesign, redesign it from the ground up! New platform, updated interior, redesign the exterior, give it better engine options and make it appeal to all buyers. Jesus, if Hyundai can make a v8, RWD sedan that can compete with BMW and Mercedes, Ford should have had no trouble doing the same. Nope, they drop the whole platform, including the entirety of Mercury and the Town Car. Oh but wait, they bring in a large, luxury sedan under Lincoln, reviving the Continental name with all the modern and updated tech and drivetrains. But they can't make a new Crown Vic. Now, the only sedan with the Ford name is the Fusion after dropping the Fiesta (no big loss there), Focus and Taurus. The Taurus...their best selling car since 1984, dropped on a whim. Why? Because SUV's and Crossovers...smh...

@YourTypical Asian You'd be surprised how many people ask me where I got mine. Most people who know these cars don't care about the looks or lack of modern amenities. They get them because the drivetrains are bullet proof, easy to maintain, cheap to fix, very capable and above all; practical. Same goes with Grand Marquis and Town Cars.

The Crown Vic actually came out in 1980 for the first generation which ran from 1979 to 1991 (1979 (Ford LTD); 1980-1982, 1983-1987, 1988-1991)) and went on for more generations: 1992-1997 (1992-1994, 1995-1997), 1998-2002, 2003-2011. The Crown Vic from 1955-1956 was actually the Ford Fairlane and people called it the "Ford Fairlane Victoria."
