My 2012 explorer uses a T20 torx bit. They give us lots of options apparently. Great video. Thank you.

The quick procedure succeed for my 2013 Ford Explorer Limited ! I used T20 torx bit instead of hex key. Terrific clip!

Question: On my vehicle (2013 Explorer, drivers door) the tab that the screw presses against has broken off. When i go to unscrew it, what's the best way to un-lodge that piece? I don't want to loosen the screw too far and have it fall into the door frame. Vey good video BTW

Thanks, just back out the screw enough for the outside handle part will come out but keep pressure on the screw so it does not fall inside the door (magnetic driver is the best if you have one). Once you have pulled the outside handle off, tighten the screw back in until you are ready to re install the handle. If you need to replace the screw fitting, that's is something else and requires the door panel to be removed. Hope that helps.

What's the name & size of the screw? Will the latch & cylinder still work without the screw? Mines dropped inside the door. Thanks.

@@hell_catdemon6847 I don’t know the name of the screw but you can take the inside door panel off and fish around for the screw. Latch will not work without it

Not sure, many new vehicles are going to this system. Older cars and some models require you to remove the door panel, a little more involved process.

I have the same problem now. I believe it's a 9/64? My set of Allen keys skipped that size and I looked up what was in between. I will go through my tool box tomorrow to find the right size.
