Ford Explorer Sport in the Sand !

The 2014 Ford Explorer Sport has a low profile stance and performance suspension causing me to question it's ability in the sand. Summer 2020 travels almost didn't happen due to covid-19. We were able to socially distance, mask up as needed and enjoy the beach.
Just a quick note to the video. I did remove the front spoiler on the Explorer and made a slight modification to prevent damaging it. Its easy to do.

P.S. Removing the front spoiler is not necessary. I've been in the sand with it attached as normal and no clearance issues at all. Good to go. 👍

Just watched your video and definitely feel better about taking my 2014 Explorer up the beach! My lifted GMC Sierra on 35's is in the shop. We're building a house 8.6 miles up a 4x4 beach and have been nervous about taking the Explorer up the beach the jobsite

Funny enough I was considering looking for an explorer to drive on the beach at Delaware Seashore State Park haha. Thanks for the video, I wasn’t so sure about the explorer because of how low to the ground it is and I was afraid it might be a little under powered but it looks like you’ve gotten through it with ease which is great to hear.

No kidding, took our 2016 explorer ecobeast sport out on the Pismo sand, no problem, even before we aired down, surprised a few 4x4 truck owners out in the soft stuff,

Put it on mud mode, it will work 50/50 lock, sand and snow modes are 80/20 fwd/rwd

Thanks for the intrest in the video. Sand mode changes the throttle response. No throttle delay, Instant torque. Which is what you want in sand or you can get in trouble quick.

Sand mode also disables the traction control. It should light up on the dash. It does on my 2013 Sport

I have a 2019 XLT with AT / all climate tires roof rack with LED lights all around (52" curved front, two 4" on sides, and 37" curved rear, all triple row. Upgraded high beams H9 LED, upgraded reverse lights LED, interior map lights, color shift (red / white LED). Hitch with recovery point. Just need to install my front recovery hooks, winch, spare full size tire on roof and my on board air system, and I'll be ready for the trail!

Absolutely not. V6 twin turbo. Amazing power and torque. 😎 Explorer SUV's, no matter the trim level, are definitely underpowered with a four cylinder engine. May as well just get a jeep. 😁
