The degree of automation is astounding. Of course there's still a considerable amount of human effort necessary to achieve the final product. This facility has to be state of the art in truck production. Could you imagine the reaction of Mr. Henry if he could see this production line?

I toured the Rouge final assembly plant in Dearborn and was totally blown away with the workers, automation, and how it all comes together in the end.
@AcmeRacing5 жыл бұрын
We toured this plant last summer, but they only showed us one corner of the production floor. The cabs were already on the chassis getting interior work in one area, then we saw doors and beds, then final assembly/drive off. It was awesome getting to see earlier steps in the video.

DirtyHarry G Yes, Ford was the first to use an assembly line, however no one in the industry would ever argue that Toyota perfected it. The Toyota assembly model is used globally in almost every aspect of manufacturing and assembly, it’s even being used in healthcare, it’s even extending to education. The US manufactures are aware they are roughly 15 years behind in the game, which is why only 1 of the big 3 remains American and that will be lost within the next 10 years.

the lowest paid job at ford is $15.78/hr. i've had some jobs where there is zero downtime. 10+ hours on your feet. some places rotate so you don't wear out your body doing the same thing 500+ times a day. for example i've done 640 cars in a shift of 10 hours giving less than a minute per car. it's more demanding than you may think.
@Bladerunner49247646 жыл бұрын
Place I work at is similar. They make automotive compressors for the AC and our total product number may vary depending on the demand by the big 3 but my line is Chrysler and on a good day we crank out 900-1,000 parts, on a really good day we may hit 1,200. On our feet the whole shift but we get to rotate between 8 stations, 2 hours at each one for either 8 or 10 hours, depending on the demand. Yeah, it's monotonous but it pays decent.

It was rumored that Ford will sell people videos of their vehicle being assembled if they supply the VIN since apparently the assembly line is constantly recorded anyhow in case of mishaps. It would have to be a fairly late model vehicle I'm guessing like 1990s+.

I was a Ford owner of used vehicles and in 03' bought my 1st new truck, NEVER BEAT ON...@ 133k and 3 transmission failures, due for a 4th transmission repair and a new rear axle due to clutch packs, pinion gears howling along with bad bearings, so after looking at some expensive repairs on top of what I paid I decided to fix it, I bought a Chevy..
@scottstemple81055 жыл бұрын
ford please make sure you check everything real close like shift cables an inch away from hot manifold and spark pluga that are very hard to change and aluminum parts that are touching metal if you haven't noticed they corrode
