2 things: 1. Dean, nothing against Five Car Stereo but how you don't have your own audio shop is beyond me. Just wanted to say great videos. I did some speaker upgrades on my 2018 F-150. For the tweeters I took the connector off the factory tweeter with a heat gun and soldered it on to the Focal tweeters. The secured it to the top, made a bracket like yours, of the bracket with hot glue. That was just to keep the OE wiring intact.

Thanks for the vid...it helps with equipment and location options for my Raptor. I'm going through the truck now and adding more soundproofing in certain areas, mainly the doors. The doors need a lot of help because there isnt much in there and they indirectly even leak air, I found this out when I filled my truck with water after misjudging a puddle during a hurricane. It turned out to be over 5 feet deep and big enough to swallow my entire truck. I didnt open the doors but water started coming through the doors slowly. I'm guessing it was entering from around the windows. They added soundproofing to windshield and windows but never sealed the windows at the doors. Remember to stay away from the strippers with caulks. Everytime you said it I had to let out a 9yo me giggle.

I installed the AP4-FD21in my 2015 F150 Platinum.. I didn't want to use the factory wire. I was able to do straight to the amp for the rear speakers because the connector between the door had space to make a hole and run the cable thru. As for the front, I had no choice but to splice at the output of the factory amp because the connector had to many wires at the connector. My amp: DB Drive Euphoria Xpert EX4.5 on 2 8" Kicker Comp R and DS18 6.5s for the front and back. Added tweeters along with the 6.5s on the front doors only.

I did a build on a 2015 platinum back in early 2016 before this pac product came out. Man I wish this was produced back then lol. I tapped factory signal after Sony amp, put resistors on literally all the outputs to be safe then sent it to a bit ten D then my amp. It was a pain, worked but you can’t help but feel your losing some quality through all that rigging lol. Awesome content!

Very very useful information, it seems that PAC and Scosche always get their stuff together longgggg before metra when it comes to the release of certain products and interfaces. I own the same year model truck with out the Sony system and I'm dying because Metra still hasn't released the dash kit yet so I can do away entirely with the Factory Radio setup. I've installed a VSS from kicker and although it Amps things up a little we all know there is nothing like the sound of a system that runs off an aftermarket HU like an SPH-120..... I really like the idea of hole in floor.. If I was gonna do that in my ridgeline, if there is no bracket to bolt to, what size bolt should I be using? Obviously I would drill,sand,prime, lock washer..
@jeremycarlson12376 жыл бұрын
Use a 3/8" bolt (x length depending on the frame component) with an appropriate size nut and washer. Then be sure to add a layer of protectant to avoid exposure to the elements, rust and corrosion). For most grounds(4 or 0 gauge), 3/8" is your go-to size. If you're running an 8 gauge, the size might be 5/16" or 1/4", but is usually indicated on the bag when you buy the grounding ring.

Great info and video! I want to do almost exactly similar....I have found it almost impossible to get new speaker wire to the doors through the rubber grommet. If I tap them into the factory speaker wire, where is the best place to do that? Also I was told the factory wire has a crossover that splits the signal out to the door and a pillar tweeter. I am running components with the crossover near the amp...running new wire to the tweeter...if I use factory door wire is it going to be an issue with the wire splitting off to go to the factory tweeter location....worried it will mess up the signal to the doors? How did you handle wiring the speakers from you crossover?
@FiveStarCarStereoInc7 жыл бұрын
James K first question do you have the Sony system?
@jamesk35297 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have the Sony system. From my research the center plug on the sony amp is what feeds the 4 doors, the 2 tweets and the center speaker. They appear to be 16 ga so I was going to cut into the speaker wires at this spot. Does that sound right?
@matthewgordon9046 жыл бұрын

I am currently planning a system on basically this same truck just 2015 blue jeans platinum screw with Sony and would love to know where the factory speakers land at and what awg they are... did you guys run speaker wire from the amp to each speaker or did you splice into factory wiring and if so where?
