I know its a bit later now, but if ever in the future you remove or replace that oil feed line, disable starting on the car and crank it with the last fitting disconnected from the turbo, then once oil purges through the line, fit it to the turbo. Starting and running the car without lubricant to the turbo can shave life off of it, im sure its fine, but just a heads up🤙
@ZacBaldy5 жыл бұрын
Dion Buttle ahhh yes very good point! I’m sure it wouldn’t have done much, even cranking it would spoil itbup even a little bit but with turbos that are more expensive than mine it’s probably a good idea ✌️ cheers Dion!

Another should do, once connected remove oil drain from the block, place a tray under it, and crank the engine to confirm oil is running through the turbo.....

Good video, awesome that you did it yourself. One tip that will help you in future is to use opposing spanner when tightening flare nuts. One to tighten and another on the filter going opposite direction

I found it way easier when replacing the oil pressure or temp sensor to come from underneath and remove the oil filter. Made it way easier I’m sure if it would’ve helped you in that situation.

One thing to watch out for, make sure the new line can't touch that piece of rubber hose on the intake side as it looks quite close. The external braid is highly abraisive and can rub through with vibrations.
@MV605 жыл бұрын
Should ideally clean the threads in the hole where you took that filter off too. Supercheap sell a small pick set that is perfect for doing that. No it's not better to be safe than sorry for that paste application unless you want that new filter to be full. It's safe to do it right and let the sealant cure before starting the car. Should be ok though, it's a fast cure. Oh and put the sealant on all the threaded connections. :p

man i was cringing watching you tighten that feed line to the filter with only one shifter. your lucky you didnt kink or damage that braided line. use the correct size tools and hold both sides of anything like that. flared fittings need to be tight or they will work loose with temp change and vibration. and please if you must use cable ties put enough on that it can move around and so that its neat and tidy. good on ya for having a go and getting it done. im going to try my hand at the youtube thing when I start my fg barra turbo swap into my jaguar xj6 real soon. im trying to pick up as much info as i can about the barra turbo life its like a new language to me coz ivw always been a holden guy ans it was always gonna be an ls swap until benny and the skid factory boys did drag week again this year.
