The fiesta ST with the limited slip diff is sensational to drive. Here in the uk it has the perfect amount of grunt for our B roads. The GR Yaris looks great my I’m not sure it’s any more fun to drive on public roads. Probably best on track !!

Wrong again Chirpster - the GR is not only much quicker in the real world but infinatly more fun, not to mention special. Calling a Ford Fiesta "sensational" is just crazy, but if that's what you like, so be it

Having driven the Yaris again at the weekend for over an hour on my favourite roads and gave it a good spanking. I feel I can make a good comparison. The Yaris is rapid no question, it’s a lot faster than the fiesta and I think my license would be a risk if I owned one. I did find the braking performance is lacking though and gets out of shape easily which is unnerving. The fiesta ST is better here imo. I found the handling good and it felt very similar to the ST in the way it feels like it pivots around the driver however I felt the ST is more sure footed, more playful and has better feedback which gives more confidence when pushing on. The Yaris gearbox is better though, has a shorter through and feels more precise. Overall impression was that i enjoyed myself but I still felt the ST is more enjoyable. I reckon the fiestas value for fun factor is hard to beat. I just wished it look at good as the Yaris on the exterior

@@Andy-2022 I disagree - the brakes on the GR are exceptional, one of its many strong points. It doesnt get out of shape or rattled - with its AWD drive system and 2 LSD's (if you drove the Circuit pack), itl go round the twisties unlike pretty much anything else out there. The GR is far superior in every single way over a mildly souped up Ford Fiesta! Although if you fancy chucking money away a 2020 ST can be had for 19k, whilst a 2020 GR will cost you 35k

Try the rallye version. 2x as good. Only one we buy in UK.

It's about 5% better. Certainly wouldn't be improving the time much on a 35 sec circuit. I think you're confusing this with the 100hp Japanese low performance GR.

I personally love the Toyota Yaris. It has so much potential. But, overall the Ford Fiesta ST is better value. It's still quite a lot cheaper than the Yaris, and still manages to make a very good time. Plus it's suitable as a daily car as it has 5 doors and a spacious trunk. The Yaris is more limited there. So overall I feel the Fiesta is better and still fun enough.

I'll give you an example. In Greece, you got the Fiesta ST3 for 25k E, Yaris GR for 48k E and AMG for 95k E. So there is no reason in comparing cars that have such a huge difference in pricing. Imo always. ST is a value for money pocker rocket, already ordered and can't wait for it.

The Yaris is only that price in Greece. In the rest of Europe it's much closer to the fiesta in price.

Lowest listed Yaris GR currently (20.10.2021) 30.990 .- € (Germany) Lowest listed Fiesta ST (MK8) currently (20.10.2021) 18.900 ,- € (Italy) Roughly ~12.000 .- € is imo not close at all. Those listed vehicles are within "Europe" (Prices are from autoscout24)

I see a failure in the test, this version of the GR did not have the circuit pack with the "Torsen" differentials, it is more efficient than with the open differentials.

Why waste time pitting the Toyota GR Yaris slow edition with the rest of these cars? The real deal is like 3 - 4 seconds faster around a track with corners. Toyota really screwed Australia when they sent the' inconvenience pack' spec first.

The merc completely kills the game! Obviously the other ones are gonna be cheaper as in terms of power there warm hatches not even hot hatches and merc is a hyper hatch! Still other 2 are great cars for what they are but obviously the merc is gonna be more expensive and worth the extra cash
