I just paid to have this done at a garage that I have full trust in. They did a good job. First time in my 54 car ownership career I have put a car in a garage. I used to do all of my maintenance myself, (including cam belts), apart from MOT's obviously, but getting a bit too old now. Modern cars are much to complicated!! I have rebuilt engines from scratch, gas welded new floors into vehicles, even built my own elevating roof camper van from an old plasterers vehicle! Still do oil changes and brake pads etc but my old bones ache too much!!!😁

Excellent video - super clear to follow. Just about to buy one of thee for my son as a first car so perfect timings (no pun intended). Should be an easy introduction for him to car maintenance. Two questions though please. Lower pulley - do you need an impact or just a normal breaker bar and secondly, when you did the tensioner, did you pull the pin and then do it up, or do it up and then pull then pin?

Hey 👋 that’s great I’m sure your son will love it! And to answer your questions the lower pulley I do with a impact gun but it can be done with a breaker bar and if so there is a extra locking tool you would need to lock the flywheel to be able to do that. And the tensioner you pull the pin once the belt is on and then use a 6mm Allen key to turn it to the correct tension then do it up, hope that helps let me know how you get on or if you need any more help 👍

Great video... How did you refit the Crank Shaft Pulley? Does it need a specific tool to torque it up?

Hi After i changed the timing belt on the same engine On idling is doing some noisy this happen only on idle When the car is revving the noise disappear Any information please?
@MrAutoFixer6 ай бұрын
Sounds like the belt might be a little too tight, Re check the tensioner ?
@aluyal92886 ай бұрын
@MrAutoFixer thanks man I start the engine nothing just nice engine sound...after 5 min on idle start the noise...Afte other 10 min on idle disappear the noise you think can broke the belt? Is done 10k miles ago Many thanks from scotland
@MrAutoFixer6 ай бұрын
@@aluyal9288 it won’t be a broken belt as it would not run if it was, I would suggest taking it to a garage if you can’t locate the noise, if the noise is intermittent it could be a bearing or a pulley that’s starting to fail, best to get it checked out 👍

Did you torque the tensioner/pulley too?
@MrAutoFixer3 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 I did not, but I would recommend anyone who hasn’t done 100’s of these to make sure they torque it 👍
