Ford Focus Drive Belt and Tensioner Replacement - alternator belt, fan belt

The tensioner on my mk2 focus failed on me without warning.
Here is how to change the belt and tensioner on a mk2 focus.

Only video I've seen that explains the part where you need to put a bolt in to release the tensioner, as someone who's not done it before I was so confused how I was supposed to release the tension until I watched this video. Thanks mate you're a life saver 🙏

@@themidnightmechanic9368 might be a stupid question but am I right in assuming that pushing the bolt through will loosen the belt enough to get it off as I need to just get the belt off to replace the air con compressor

@@tobyavery2859 yes mate. The further you screw the bolt in, the slacker the belt becomes. Tighten the bolt until you can slip the belt off. Then leave it where it is while you do your job. Do your job, slip the belt back over the pulleys and unscrew the bolt.

@@tobyavery2859 a quick side note... the air con system is pressurised with refrigerant gas... depressurise the system before undoing any pipework!

I saw you could buy the individual pulley online but that meant waiting for a delivery. This was my workhorse so I needed it back on the road ASAP. I stuck lucky at the scrap yard with a belt that was practically new! Lol

@@themidnightmechanic9368 Wass able to do my belt today without your diagram and where you showed the adjuster using a bolt ide be stuffed the video is the only one showing that so big thank you for doing the video
