Ford Focus / Fiesta / S-Max / Mondeo remote key fob manual programming. How to add remote

This programming procedure works for Ford Focus 2, S-Max, C-Max, Mondeo 3, Fiesta. You can manually program a new remote to your car without having to visit a dealer. Here is how to do it:
- insert a key and turn it 4 times from position 1 to pos. 2 and back to pos. 1. A long beep will sound, the car now is in remote programming mode.
- Turn any button on your new fob or flip key. Another long beep will sound.
That's it! Take the key out of ignition and test both old and new remotes to make sure they work properly.

thanks so much for this - I had replaced battery as key fob not working - still didnt work so rang local Ford dealer who wanted £75 just to look at fob - fortunately I didn't go to them ! I didn't realise key fob had to be reprogrammed. I also looked at another video which instructed to turn key between II and III - that didn't work, but it did work when I turned between I and II as instructed in your video - it didn't work first time but it did work when I clicked button twice [not just once] after doing the I to II thing 4 times.

Great..just fixed my key in proper quick time,in fact it took less time than the length of the tutorial..good work but could be made better without the abrasive/annoying background music!

Tried the Flipper zero gadget on my car, managed to open door with it but locking failed. After this experiment, car's key stopped working, couldn't unlock/lock doors, but the sync helped.

Isn't there a story of having to copy the transponder or i dunno what ? Like if i do what you did, for a 2009 fiesta, and i ask a locksmith to copy the original key and CNC it to the new one, it should work to start the car, open the doors, trunk etc ? Thanks !

When I programme the new key, the old one stops working. Same happens if then programme back the old key, new stops. Seems like car recognises only one key. Any solution?

I never experienced it yet to be honest, sounds strange. I'd try to delete all keys and program both after all keys lost, but this requires special equipment.

I did the same and the original key stopped working,I can't add a second remote, never found a way to get the two remotes to work

It is really easy. Programming deletes all remote keys. You cant add new key without deleting old ones. So - start programming mode, wait for beep, press one button on each key you have (computer beeps for each one). When computer lefts programming mode - all keys will work ;)

hi luka did you manage to resolve this issue ? , i ask as i have the same problem . tried every instruction , they just vary in how many key turns really . i get no beep at all and both fobs do nothing at all . so just wondering if you have found a solution .

hi luka thanks for your reply . i have tried ford sites , but i either found nothing of any help or i asked and received no help . if some info was available it would help us or might help us to trouble shoot and rule out or rule in what the issue might be . but having looked a lot i found zero . for example if i knew the car should still go into program mode and beep even if the remote locking system unit was not working ,well that would help . but i found nothing of help . so the only solution i guess is to try and troubleshoot it , and possibly get my mechanic on to it . because you can get wear and tear / damage to the key requiring new keys . that can be expensive . but thanks for your reply .

This might help someone👍 2009 Ford S-Max 3 Button Key Fob Step to program key: - Insert key into ignition - Turn key 4 times between position 0(Ignition OFF) to position II(Ignition ON, without starting the engine) - Key off ignition - Press any button on remote key fob(hazard lights(indicators) must flash) - Wait 20 seconds or put key back into ignition and turn to position II( Ignition ON) ⚠️THESE STEPS ABOVE MUST BE DONE WITHIN 3 SECONDS⚠️ If you have more than one key to program just use one key to enter the programming mode and when required to press the key fob button, just press one button on each remote and that’s… GOOD LUCK
