Really useful video. I note that at sme point a previous owner used gaffer tape to cover up the seal on the other side - I've done that now as a temporary maybe fix for me - since I've got a similar problem. (Unlike you I also have mushrooms growing there...)

Water comes in the vents behind the back bumper...just get under the car and remove the rubber bungs on each side....Ford created a box section with no drain holes....

@@robertpalmer5803 on this occasion it was the rear pillar letting the water in, the car has been water tight since.

Please don’t remove the rubber bungs (funny word I am not a native English speaker) but instead just cut/drill a hole in the rubber bungs, that will allow potential water to drip out and not have stuff flying from the bottom

I just recently noticed the same leak (at least I think) on my 2015 mk3.5 estate, thankfully mine just started at most a few months ago.. It was only on the left side, and after I cleaned a bit under the roof rails and on the place you repaired, it actually started to leak on the right side also so I think dirt buildup actually just enough blocked it and it also proves that THIS is the cause.. I will do this repair in the next few days and hopefully this will be the end of it! Do you possibly know if mk4 also has this problem or is it still too new to tell? Thank you for the detailed video and saving me from disassembly of the interior trim!

Shitty ford manufacturing, I just fixed the exact same problem and if you google it there are so many other people with the same problem
