Mk2 Focus will always hold a special place for me. My parents had one when I was young, an ‘05 Machine Silver 1.6 (100) LX 5 door like yours. We got it when it was 1 year old & (at the time) it was the newest car we ever had & the first with air con & a CD player. It still smelt new inside & had been so lightly used that the export receipt from the factory in Spain was still in the glovebox. I was utterly smitten with it.

I found this very intuitive! I've recently bought a Mk2 Focus (Manual) 2006 after saying goodbye to my first car - a Vauxhaull Corsa Mk3 from 2009. I was a bit dubious about buying and older and cheaper car, but so far it seems to be okay and it only has 59,000 miles on the clock! Obviously I'm not a car expert but this was a very in depth and helpful video to get to grips with my new motor! Thank you!

It's a timeless car; I love that. With this design, it never gets old. I'm using a 1.6L Benzine 100 HP Hatchback Ghia Version from 2005. It has everything I need in this car (safety and basic features). The suspension is excellent and easy to control. Consumption 7.7L/100 km (37 mpg) It's alright. Three years ago I just changed the new radio with the rearview camera. So I will use this car for longer and maintain it as well as possible.

Brooo... i got same car as u and i also changed radio with the rearview camera there is only one difference... mine consumes 16 liters of gas per 100 km, I wonder what's the fault but I have no idea, I'll take it to the gas servicer soon and we'll see what happens next, I hope I won't have to spend a lot of money, I'm already investing a bit in it I put it in, but this car was my secret dream because I played Colin McRae as a child and there was also a Ford Focus, the Ghia version exceeded my expectations, really, as you put it, I don't need anything else, the car is luxurious for me

@@CarSpyTV I'll look forward to those. I also recently had a similar problem as yours with my focus where it went into limp mode and showed an engine systems warning light on the dashboard. After three weeks of diagnostics (and expense!) I was contemplating the scrapyard option when an Auto electrician pinpointed an instrument cluster fault. It's a common fault on the focus apparently and we had to have the dashboard and cluster removed and rebuilt. Now back to it's reliable self thankfully.

Oh yes. That's certainly a common fault. I think it's easy enough to fix (once you know where to point the soldering iron). Glad your car is sorted.

I have this exact year and model with about 94000 miles on it. It's been in my family since new, but no one has changed the cam belt... I know it's 10 years or 100,000 miles to change it, so I definitely need to get it done soon! Totally agree with you about the fabric and performance, but overall, it just does the job!

Hope you had it done, it'd be a shame to destroy your engine. I have a 2011 model which had 53k on when bought. I had it done straight away, it's a no brainer. Got almost 62k now, and no worries about bent valves and an engine rebuild.

So agree with the 'water stains' on seat fabric. Even opening the door when wet will splash the little blighters with wet spots! Have you discovered a method of reliable removal? I sometimes use my Lidl hand held steamer, but occasionally, that makes it worse!

It’s not just us, then! We’ve improved - but not removed - some of the water stains with a product similar to the one linked below. If you have a go yourself, it might be worth first checking the product doesn’t do any harm by testing it in a small (and inconspicuous) area. www.wilko.com/simoniz-400ml-upholstery-carpet-cleaner/p/0082595

Great video. I believe the focus mk 2 or 2.5 if looked after is one of the best cars ford have produced as they seem to be bomb proof. I've owned my 2010 plate style 1.6 automatic for 12 years now and recently had the water pump and cam belt replaced and I must say it still drives like new but I must say it's never been abused... the only gripe was the bonnet lock mechanism suddenly stopped working which I replaced my self and I believe it's a common problem on the mk2.. personally I would keep my 2010 focus as I believe thay are more reliable and better built than the newer models
@CarSpyTV2 жыл бұрын
I agree, Brian. The Focus of this era is one of the manufacturer’s best. Like your car, ours has been well maintained and it drives like new. Thanks for your comment.

Since I passed my test in 2013 I've been driving a mk2 focus. Nearly 10 years later and she doesn't miss a beat at 105k miles. Incredibly reliable car - only had two issues before that weren't major - the first being water ingress into the spark plugs which was fixed with an engine cover and the second was the instrument cluster used to fail while driving which mean't I was driving with no speedometer and the car would go into limp mode. That was fixed when my local garage sent it off to a specialist. I hope to continue driving my Focus for many years to come. Only drawback I've found with my 1.6 LX petrol is that it could really do with a 6th gear to improve its fuel efficiency a bit more.
@holty952 жыл бұрын
Some top points for this car I would say are the steering (lovely feel of the road through the wheel), very cheap to insure, very practical with 4/5 seats, reasonable mpg (ive been getting between 35-40), very decent sound system for its age, bullet proof engine.

Haha, and I thought my 2005 Focus had a massive colour difference between the front wings and the front bumper :D The moondust silver colour is particulalry difficult to get right. My car is really similar in spec. I think the only differences are that it's a manual, no ESP and it's right-hand drive. Oh yeah, and it's a more rare 1.6 Ti which has 85 kW.

I just bought the 2007 1.8 zetec petrol, manual version. Many things about it irritate me: Seatbelts hard to put on. Two different buttons on key for lock/unlock. Notchy gears. No cubby holes in boot. Space-saving spare wheel. Ignition key awkward to insert. Clutch pedal travel too great. Steering not relaxing at speed. Engine lacks grunt at low revs. Annoying seatbelt warning bleeper. Don't like the Gestapo-Black interior, either! I pretty much had to buy it, cos it was the only thing available to me. Hoping it will grow on me, but the whole car is nowhere near as nice to drive as my previous car (Renault Laguna, yr 2000).
