I agree (clutch job)! And I've learned over time when I see p07a2 its more often the slave cylinder bearings coming apart, sometimes its the fork, either way I'd replace the clutch, forks and slave cyl

Bought a 2013 recently, I’ve tried cleaning the grounds, changing the fluid, spraying wd-40 on the forks, installed a new battery, changed the actuators. I haven’t messed with the TCM. Previous owner said the dealership installed a new tcm about a year ago. I know that’s not a guarantee that it’s not the tcm but I’m not getting any codes at all. One trip it doesn’t drive half bad next drive it shuddering and shifting funny. The longer I drive it on a trip the better it seems to shift ironically. I’m assuming the forks are bad and or the clutch needs replaced. 🤷🏻
@BigBensCarsAndCycles7 ай бұрын
Yes clutch shudder. You can drive it hard once in a while to mitigate the shudder or replace the clutch and forks amzn.to/48ppwVJ

I do have access to another tcm, my personal car is a 2018 focus. I’ve never had any issues with the transmission. Theoretically I could swap and see if something changes. But I’m also concerned with having two messed up focus’s if I tried that.

APPRECIATE THE HELP. I have a 2015 fiesta... jerks and when downshifting and just shifting regularly it's like it's slipping until rpms drop then it engages... was pulling the trans and was almost out then decided to just change actuators... seemed to help a little at first but now its doing the same things. tried resetting the tcm, actually changed the TCM then reset it but didnt make a differentce. it has a check engine light but my el chepao scanner wont read the codes. did note fork "A" does not stop clockwise so based on your video the fork is bad... car has 160000 miles on it. guess i'm pulling the transmission and replacing clutch, forks, and bearings after all.

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles I also got a clutch disengagement time/proformance slow. And that was after I sprayed break cleaner and wind it a couple of times. But before that, only got the clutch a stuck engaged. Also, transmission over heating. Will a stuck clutch cause that also? 🙏🏾 Thanks

Hello, just came across your videos, first, thanks so much for so many clear informative videos. I have a question that may not be related to this video, but since it was your latest video, I figured it would be the best option to get a response. My focus has 218k miles, up until now I haven't really had a problem, I bought it at 40k and after I bought it and it started to shudder I looked up a couple videos and started to figure out what the issues were and just started driving it hard, using sport mode to keep it in gear in traffic and being mindful of how I should drive it. Plus I had a 45 mile each way commute 5 days a week for 6 years of just freeway driving, so I'm sure that helped my transmission not fail. Lately I noticed a squeak. I don't know if this is what you are calling a grind in your videos, but to me it sounds like more of a squeak than a grind, but it does it when changing gears. And then it gave me a code one day for a P074B-unable to engage gear 3. When I turn the car off and back on the onscreen code goes away and it drives back to normal, except the squeak thing. At first I thought it had to be the clutch, but then after watching your videos, it sounds like it is more the synchros than anything else. I just did a fluid flush with the ford recommended motorcraft stuff and drove it a mile or two, then drained that and am now trying the acdelco syncroshift stuff that you mentioned in one of your videos. Unfortunately thats the first its ever been changed, i keep up on my oil and other stuff, but never realized that was something I had to do. Do you think I have this diagnosed correctly? I was kind of hoping it was just the clutch, I think I could change that out, but if its deeper in the trans, then I don't know if I want to try to attemp that.
@BigBensCarsAndCycles9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. That does sound like a worn synchronizer. You can get a used low mileage transmission, and install a new clutch and fork kit in it before installing it in the car. It would be a good idea to also install a new OEM tcm. However you could just live with the scnchro issue as it'll just skip that gear

I have a 2017 focus titanium that started having issues, P07A2, losing 3rd and 5th. However, if you let it rest a little the transmission will work fine for a bit, would that be the tcm?

Spend a day every couple years cleaning the clutch forks and it should last many years. If the TCM goes bad its only $325 from ford. Otherwise good cars. I wish they'd sell more stick shifts but europe gets those and we're stuck with automatics
