Bro this car is just amazing! It's so clean and the paint looks absolutely incredible! This car has a character, and that engine is the cherry on top! Great review James. I have the same car and colour, all be it on a 09 reg. I had the St225 before and I agree I've never looked back since I got the RS. Looks, sounds, drives spot on for a car this old. I think they will only go up in value if looked after, really enjoyed your vid. 👍

Lovely example there mate. I’d keep it almost as it is 👌🏻 Sounds like you have a similar back story to me too in relation to wanting one back in the day but not being able to afford it. Maybe try to upgrade to MR375 as that is the sweet spot with these cars 😃👍🏻

Thanks mate, yeah probably fairly similar! And yep, that's the plan most likely going to try to do MR375 at some point and leave it there. Probably will have to be a Milltek branded exhaust rather than mountune though as they don't sell that any more. Aside from that just going to concentrate on tidying it up really, perhaps an underside restoration one day?

@@CarswithJamesMosley that’s what I did - went for the 3 inch Milltek downpipe and sports catalyst but kept the standard cat back. Occasionally the Mountune exhausts pop up on eBay / the forums but the sell fast and for good money. I need an intercooler and the fuel pump to complete the puzzle but I’ve given up on the fuel pump as they’re so rare and expensive when they do come up 😂 I’m not sure where you’re based but I’d highly recommend FJRS when it comes to maintaining the car 👌🏻

@@CarFocused Yeah annoyingly I have the mountune downpipe already but on the MP350 it's a 2.75 inch, so I'd have to change that anyway for the MR375 at some point which is slightly frustrating. I've seen the prices of those fuel pumps so I really hope mine never gives up 🙏😂. I'm based in Dorset not far from Bournemouth, so FJRS are a bit of a trek. I would consider them for some one off/special work as I wouldn't mind travelling for that, but I've been using Hendy Performance near Southampton for servicing so far. They're also really good, they are a mountune dealer, plus they are part of a Ford dealer group too. Looking at my paperwork it does appear my car had its MP350 kit fitted at Mountune HQ way back in 2011 though which is pretty cool 👌

@@CarswithJamesMosley plus standard pump is good for 375 cars anyway and "stage 3" for up to 420 as far as I'm aware, my tuner never mentioned having to upgrade it if going for over 400hp, but with mountune your literally just paying for the name. It's good to have if your super anal about it all but there's stuff out a lot cheaper and still as good quality

How did you get the build number badge mate?

This one actually came with the car but if I recall correctly there was a guy on one of the forums who could look up your build number for you and then you could order one 👍

2.5L should make 500hp or even more, with the right mods of course.. is there like something that makes that not possible due to engine design or something? Fiesta ST can make about 330hp reliably if done right but it's only a 1.6.. just asking as I'm thinking of buying a mk2 RS..

People do get big power out of them with the right mods. 500bhp+ is totally possible if you have the budget. 400-420bhp is relatively straightforward.

@@CarswithJamesMosley Yeah. But we do at least get the Volvo C30 T5 which is the same platform, same engine, same transmission, etc as the MK2 Focus ST. So with some tuning and a K16 it would be pretty much the MK2 RS and even my car (15 Golf GTI) is a 300hp FWD hot hatch like the MK2 Focus RS so those 2 pretty much fill the void but I still can’t get over the looks and sound of the car. Then again I’m certain that there are some rides we have that Europe and others don’t have so who am I to complain.

Not massively to be honest. I haven't had an issue with it at motorway speeds but obviously it is a little louder than stock 👍

How much boost are you running?

Hi mate not actually sure what the boost pressure is for the MP350 map, but as far as I'm aware it's only a little more boost pressure than standard.

@@CarswithJamesMosley Do you know if there are any differences to the ST and RS MK2 engines as far as block cracks goes? are RS engines stronger?

@@steenhansen2683 the RS did have some changes including a forged crankshaft silicon-aluminum pistons and graphite-coated cylinder bores. You'd be best off asking a specialist regarding cylinder liners cracking and how many they see, but as far as I'm aware it's at least less common on the RS. It's certainly not something I see often/at all in the Facebook groups/forums etc.

I had a standard mk2 RS. Very disappointing except for the noise, wasn't really a drivers car (nanny traction etc) Ended up with an Abarth 595 Turismo, a true drivers car. With slight mods it does the quarter in the dry @ 13.6.
