I once owned a Granada just like this one but in Oyster Gold, V reg and a superb car to own, wish i still had it, bought it in 1988 and had 8 great years in it till i got sales job and had to sell to get better fuel return car, regretted it so much , this vid brings back fond memories for me

This was a super luxurious car in its day. We had these exactly like this in South Africa, but with the Essex 3.0 V6 engine. Lots of torque which gave a very smooth ride.

Had a silver with blue velour 2.8i Ghia S, with the RS spoilers front & rear, spotlights and fog lights, loved that car, was and is the best car Ford ever made or will make.

The velour seats in these old Fords always goes baggy, but if you're prepared to spend a little they can be recovered quite easily, Very nice car indeed.

Interesting… I’ve noticed that the velour in Fords always looked baggy and “crumpled”, even on some newer 80s and 90s cars. What is the quick fix?

This diamond white Granada 2.8 Ghia is exactly like the first car I ever bought at 18 yrs of age in 1984 (FPU 606T). Mine even had the same colour vinyl roof and interior. I then bought a facelift X-reg. 2.8 Injection Auto in Cardinal Red (VRK 282X). In hindsight, I think I now prefer the cleaner Ines of the smaller bumper original ‘77-‘81 cars…

Rare, rare car today, almost unobtainium in good original condition. Even back in their day, the Ghia model was not a common sight, most Ford buyers opted for the L, GL or GLS trim because the Ghia was quite a hefty up-charge for a Ford. People with that kind of money to spend often bypassed the Ford dealer and went for a more prestigious brand for a little - or not so little - more money. Interesting to compare how the Ford interiors aged vs. the Opel/Vauxhall competition. The top trim Commodore/Viceroy or entry-spec Senator/Royale would be the GM equivalent to this Ford. Even the UK market Vauxhall models were all made in Germany by that time. Whatever applied to the Opel also was true for the Vauxhall. The interior design of the Granada instrument panel was leaps and bounds above the Opels. It looks less dated today and aged much better in regards to design, material grade, perceived quality and durability. The Opel interiors looked cheap and had poor durability. Plastic-chrome decor strips would peel off and the instrument panel plastics are notorious for cracking and warping everywhere, especially in the gauge cluster housing. The seats, however, were the opposite story. Opel used an extremely hard-wearing velour and top-grade seat construction that resisted separation of the fabric from the foam bolsters much better than the Ford. The lumpy, wrinkly, loose velour cloth as on this Ghia is a very common sight on those old Granadas, while many a surviving Opel has seats that look nearly new.

Schöner Granada , ich habe den gleichen in Inkagold Metallic und mit Havana Braun Leder Ausstattung ,habe noch ein 5 Gang Getriebe Eingebaut, Rost gibt es bei meinem nicht steht da wie ausdem laden, und läuft super mit dem 2.8 V6 Vergaser Motor. Bin froh das ich ihn habe.
