Me and my mate changed the engine in an escort van,cold winters night with a tilly lamp for light and a scaffold tube to lift the engine out,we had the replacement engine in and running,all done in a couple of hours,no ECUs EGR valves or any other crap that they put onto todays modern engines to worry about.

Ford always made some of the best looking cars. My brother had a Cortina Mk 1 GT in Australia. It was only when I returned here in 1979 I realised how quickly they corroded here. Often rot boxes within five years. And no one seemed to complain at the time.

For me it would be the Mk1 Cortina, Back in the day we never finished our 3 litre V6 custom build. It just needed brakes and spraying [even though I reckon it looked good in grey primer] But then Life got in the way.

Brought back some fantastic memories Stu . I am lucky enough , & old enough to have at one time owned most of these cars , but not an escort van .
