Ford GT 2017 Accelerations, Revs & EcoBoost V6 Sound

I recorded these two Ford GTs during the 2017 and 2018 editions of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Watch them in action on the Goodwood's hillclimb course and hear the sound of the Ford 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.

Unlike everyone else here it seems, I think the design of this car is absolutely stunning. There’s really nothing else like it. As for the V6, yes a V8 would be killer, but I think the sound, looks, and general packaging make up for the lack of one, plus it doesn’t matter if the engine is shared with the f-150 as long as it propels you into light speed lol. If anything, this magnificent car proves the worth of less is more. For once there’s something on the road where there’s not a giant engine being stuffed into a lackluster chassis, but a solid race proven chassis accepting a suitable, smaller engine.

I wuvz it. I was rooting for the Gnassi team during it's run in IMSA and I think it might be the best vehicle Ford has ever engineered. I remember being a little obstinate to the idea of a V6 but to be honest, it's pretty "throaty" for a six cylinder note and it's clearly making enough power!

Every car Ford put a 3.0 & 3.5 Eco in is capable of 500 whp. They're literally cousins of this cars engine. The 2.7 is the second cousin, and they put down 400+ at the crank with just tunes. V6 ecos are fun.

I am not hater, but this car never worked for me. Like in one of comments below rear end looks like pig from Angry Birds, price is too high vs competition, performance did not blow me away or power to weight ratio (as they were so proud of it). Recent carbon edition didn't even made a splash, Ford made many people angry by selling them more to social media traders, and the way they won Le Mans... Give me gen1 anytime.

It is a very nice sound, but here is the issue, next the old V8 it had before, that is when it sucks unfortunately. That's the issue. They need an optioned base V8 and make it more affordable. That will make this car amazing. GM is killing it with the V8 mid engine corvette. Yes I know it is less power, and less overall performance, but the public roads are not race tracks, and I would rather have the 6.2L N/A V8 sing to me. Yes I'm aware of their new Flat plane V8 ZO6, but even still, I would rather have the N/A 6.2 crossplane OHV (pushrod) V8 all day everyday !!! Bruh at 80k with a few options, that is still insane up to now. Here is what I think Ford should do. They should use the 5.0 V8 from their mustang and lower spec the GT and due to the history of GT, call it another name besides the prestigious GT name, and like make it more affordable for the working class and boom you guys will get business. I know Ford is benchmarking the base C8 corvette. It ain't a leak anymore. So I see this as a possible future that Ford will make an affordable V8 GT.

Agree, they were supposed to keep the V8. I'm actually down if it will be using a hybridized V8, but a V6 Twin-Turbo Hybrid are not really working that good.

They simply couldn't fit a v8 because the aero's design limited the space behind the car. Concerning hybridization, the Ford GT is a LeMans car. Specifically for the category of LMGTE PRO, hybrids were reserved for the LMP1 category. They would have heavily modified the design to adapt to the category and accomodate such an engine. Also rules are much tighter now. Engines in LMGTE PRO have a max displacement of 5500cc for a naturally aspirated engine and 4300cc for an engine boosted by a turbo charger. A smaller engine boosted by a turbo is better in a track point of view as they needed it to be lighter yet still be powerful enough.

Justin Madriaga it was designed from the very beginning to fit around the 3.5 V6. The wanted to heavily promote the V6 EcoBoost and show its potential. Beating Ferrari at LeMans for the 50th anniversary of the GT40 was also a priority. I got to see the race car at Road America with the IMSA series. Awesome machine!
