Thank you! So after all there is no need to replace the tailgate wiring loom as I can see. You literally saved my day as I bought the camera and the sync connector and even voltage regulator but I’m missing the original wiring loom containing the video cable .

Nice installation you’ve obviously got the know how and tools ,I’ve got a 2017 Mk3 Ford Focus Looking at adding a Reversing Camera and hardwiring it to the factory LCD display but will Get it done by an Auto Electrician .

It’s the same basically in terms of wiring and installation. You will have a synch 3 and the wiring and camera that I used would work in the focus 👌 if your anywhere near Dorset I could do it for you 🤷‍♀️

Thank you. Just did this on a 2013 Escape. The second digit needed to be changed to a "2" instead of a "B". I dont know if a B would work for my car, but there are several threads that suggest the "2", so I tried that first and it worked. My second digit was originally a "1". Thought this info might help someone

Go to the APIM As-Built 2- Do a backup of your original APIM (just in case) 3- Change block 7D0-01-01 ×*xx-xxxx-xxxx *=3 With camera no PDC *=9 No camera with PDC *=B With camera and PDC This may or may not work for the smax

Can't you use a switch or cigarette lighter to get power, saving all that hassle taking things apart? Im sure a cigarette lighter lead somewhere has a switch on it.

The trim has to come off to run the camera lead from above the number plate into the car, taking the live from the reverse light isn’t a big deal! Plus when the car is in reverse the camera is activated

No only factory cameras do this, a video signal into an adaptor is just that, it's a video signal.

I do appologise for the question but I really am not good at these things. I have as fairly low millage used focus MK4 2019 with sync 3.2. Has identical camera (at least visually). It was installed by the previous owner who kindly also fitted immobiliser (himself or at a garage but all aftermarket). I would love to update the Sync to 3.4. But my concern is - will my aftermarket reversing camera work after the update!? Will there be compatiblity issue etc and need to find Forscan and go adjust the settings with it or just smooth transition? Gary, what do you think and have you done an update? Can I do the automatic update without fear for my camera?

Hi All, I have installed a rear-view camera on my 2015 Ford CMax with Sync2 (My touch) The camera works but I am getting interference in the top of the screen. I have tried 3 different cameras, rerun the cable from the back to the front and also installed a noise filter on the power cable but its still doing it. The video also rolls sometime. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you manage to get a fix for it. Thanks

Sorry missed this comment, I had to use the extension as it was just a bit too short. You can purchase longer leads on eBay and the like but for me it was just too tight and I didn’t want it stretched like that

Best to use a multi meter mate, in the end I took the live and earth of the reverse light and had no issues with it 👍

I've got a reverse camera off ebay to just clip in place of a std number plate with combined led light. Only problem is mine is a Mk1 with twin tailgate so much more difficult to run the wires which I'm still trying to figure :)

I just checked the link and it says it has night vision! To be honest I’ve never reversed it in the dark! Maybe I’ll wait until later and try it! Like I said in one of my other comments to you this is a cheap camera and does what it says on the tin 😁 if you want an all singing version just spend a few more quid and get the camera that works for you 👌

Also 1 last question i promise, i see you connecting the earth and feed to the reverse lamp, but i see there was a small thin red wire at the front maybe a trigger wire, i assume you left that disconnected?

It can be done but you need a complete new unit from another car plus the usb cable and gps unit! Around £400…… if I decide to upgrade mine I will do a video
