I have a 2019 automatic petrol 1500cc Titanium X model. Our last car was diesel and actually failed it’s first MOT on emissions due to not being driven enough. I’ve had it since the beginning of August, but through illness I’ve only done 1200 miles about 600 of which were done on a week away. Both my wife and I have disabilities and the most important thing to us is actually being able to get in the and out of the vehicle. You would be amazed how many vehicles are inaccessible to at least one of us. Next is having the height and width in the boot to get my scooter and hoist in without moving the back seats. Then it’s the automatic boot, reaching up to close it is incredibly painful, it was cheaper to go up a model than to get this under accessories. I used to reach up with my stick and pull the door down by hooking over the handles, but the initial inertia was still painful. My wife is hemiparuplegic and I have an unusual respiratory condition. As anyone with any paralysis will tell you she can’t have the car too cold, I can’t have it too warm as it as an adverse impact on my breathing. Enter split climate and heated leather seats. Because my wife has no use in her right side all the main controls need to be on the left side so she can take over driving if I get too fatigued or sore. I have profound upper body pain due to nerve damage, this is one reason I prefer to drive. My wife easily gets car sick because of the damage her stroke has done to her brain with spacial awareness. This is especially so in small sporty cars. The comfort of the drive in this car has overcome both these problems to a greater degree than any other car. We also live in a semi rural area, and having the ability to use your car in all weathers goes a long way. Also having a car that can defrost itself faster than any other I’ve owned goes a long long way. This obviously isn’t something that comes up in reviews, as we only get half a dozen really frozen days most years it would be practically impossible to cover. Again, scraping a car is painful for me and my wife loses her balance. This speed of defrosting was something we only discovered since having the car. This car fits all my needs and part that is building up a relationship with a small family run dealership where I have bought my last three cars. Having someone who remembers your name, understands your needs and doesn’t patronise you goes a long way when you have conditions that restrict your abilities. If I could give people with impairments one piece of advice it would be find a small dealer and build up that relationship, we've had horrendous experiences with some of the larger dealerships. I appreciate it would be impossible to do a review from a 'disabled' perspective. So few of us have the same needs, even when we have the same conditions. My wife's and mine are completely different and I hope these comments from our experiences cover a broad spectrum of physical needs and might be useful to someone else. Does this car compare to the Shogun I had about 20 years ago when I was able bodied and wanted a true 4x4? No. Do I like it better than my F reg BMW 325 I had when I was still young and was my first new car? No. Is this the best car I’ve had since becoming disabled? Yes, and by a country mile with my experiences so far. It ticks all the main boxes for both my wife and myself. Thank you for such an objective review, there was stuff I learnt. I only found out about the lights adjusting themselves when starting my engine facing a wall one night. You’ve explained what they are. I like your approach, you don’t set out to be KZbins Jeremy Clarkson like so many others do. You simply give the facts with comparisons to other cars in a language we all understand. I hope you don’t mind such a lengthy comment. I know it will be of little use to most people, but this is information difficult to find for most disabled people. Excellent, thank you.

This is a bit late but we bought a 2019 ST-X line 1.5 petrol (150bhp) with 12k on the clock to replace an 11 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 Diesel...and I have to say we couldnt be happier with the choice.

I'm on my 2nd kuga. Of course its not the best 4x4 out there but its not bad value and pulls a caravan with ease - the kuga is great. If you want a different (german) badge on the front you have to pay the premium.

Hi James, I know this message is a bit late but we are also in our 70/80s and bought a kuga for that very reason, our focus was to low to get in and out of. The Kuga solved the problem beautiful. Shame they were no around when we were in our twentys, it's spacious back seat would have been great to share with a friend 😅

Thank you again for a first class review on this car. Can you please advise me if this car would be suitable for myself and wife, my reason for asking,is that as pensioners we can't enter or exit a normal low set vehicle.Owinging to the fact weve both unfortunately got severe lower back problems. Ps.I also must purchase a petrol engine, as in the past, ive had big problems with diesel cars, as im a very low mileage driver, and this normally causes problems with fuel clogging and turbo problems to. Thanks in advance for any advice that would help me to choose the right vehicle, come the end of this year 2019. Much obliged.👍🇬🇧

Hi ive once again viewed you Ford Kuga Titainium review, and have taken a likeness to this car.. Ive had a lot of cars during my time, but haven't owned a ford vehicle. So im a bit apprehensive about purchasing one come the end of 2019. My other problem is that i must have a petrol engine, owing to the fact that i can't buy another diesel engine car, as i only do very low mileage per annum, and it creates problems with the managent system and turbo etc. It's caused me a lot of problems in the past, so Motability supplied me with a Moka 1.4 turbo elite, petrol, and i had no further trouble over the last 3 yrs driving.Any advice from yourself, would be invaluable to me,especially me being a pensioher with health problems.Thank you in advance.
@jamesure24455 жыл бұрын
To put you right Biffa, after the 3 yrs.are up, i hopefully change the car to another of my choice. But i still have to hand over all my award i recieve that i get for the unfortunate i'llness that ive got. I personally would rather have my health back, rather than rely on a motability vehicle.👎Thoughr it would be nice to let you know

The interior especially the instruments, is extremely dated now. The car is based on the previous generation Focus. I've got a 2 litre diesel AWD manual in same colour as your test car and the paint chips and scratches very easily, worst finish of any car I've owned. I only got it as there was good discount and zero percent finance over 3 years plus great service from my local dealer..... Plus, it's a great drive

Ford escape was , well not very good so Ford USA looked at the original Kuga and made a larger version for the World car and called it Kuga in Europe and Escape in the USA. I am now on my second Kuga and like all cars is not perfect but when you take the Ford package (service etc) into consideration it is a good car. Mike Cain.
