To me it’s safer to have the phone in a dedicated spot where I can always see it and not fumble around looking for it. But for major companies I’m sure it’s a “gonna get sued if we do that” type of thing.

I don't know about the other trim levels, but the Lariat has one. It's just (I assume for liability reasons) way down at floor level under the center console next to the wireless charging pad. In other words - useless for, say, navigation purposes.

@@johnheger2953I'm definitely due for a new video. New products are much more refined than this one. But no not for apple car play - really tried to get that too work but its SO much work to do it, and the car-play USB modules are like $160 now. Thanks for the nice words - i don't make a magnetic mount because there are already so many good options on amazon - check out Lisen and Ainope.

Excellent how-to. Please forgive my lack of understanding - does this USB port enable phones for wired Apple Play and Android Auto (eliminating the need to drop a cable down to USB-C port below) so I merely need a very short USB-C cable? A buyer comment from your Etsy ad: "This is far the best way to utilize the cubby hole. I can now use my cellphone holder, gopro, and etc. I also like that you can put a small usb adapter to have you phone connected for android or apple carplay."

Yea that's honestly why i addressed it, i cannot change his comment but did email him about it. This will not work with apple car play unless you buy the bluetooth connector and use the molex USB to charge or wireless charge. The main thing with apple car play is that i do not know if they would work together in sync. There is alot going on within the logic of auto connect and i don't think i can willie nillie add another module and they both coexist together. It is something i have in the back of my mind and will further investigate if there is enough interest.

no it points straight out. you might be able to find a pop socket mount on amnazon wiht a ball connectore. I have 17mm 20mm balls joints for the FITS anchor

@@akro9777 do you make a 3d printed “shim” to fit the AMPS mount? There is a rock solid pop socket mount that has very good adhesive that lasted in my previous car for 5+ years I want to use. I just need a flat surface angled towards the driver to mount it on 🤔

Hey so I went on etsy to order and the site is super confusing. If I order the USB fits mount does it come with the phone slide in piece? Not the phone holder but the piece that slides in?

there are two selections - make first selection and a picture showing options for selection 2 should appear. How should i make it simpler? You are referring to the 17mm Ball Joint, and that is selection C i believe.

I order things all the time. I'm letting you know its very confusing. Get ride of the drop down boxes. Put a picture up of what people are getting and let them select that and buy it in different configuration,s what I wanted to buy is what you installed in the video. But I can't find it and the selections are ridiculously confusing and I. Sure I'm not the only one who thinks so

Use the 17mm ball joint and there is a 6$ magsafe vent clip that you can use with it.

I’m with ya. I offer other products that go into the cubby without any drilling required. Looking around back there it does look like they are going to have a new bezel and new screen for the 2023. I’m almost positive it’s same screen as bronco sport and they made it work.

@@akro9777 I have a 2023 Mav (XLT Lux) and can confirm for anyone else reading these comments that the screen and cubby on the '23 is the same as the '22. From the sales documentation for the '24 it looks the same.

Not really. I have Android Auto (through the Motorola wireless dongle) and while it is nice to have PocketCast on the same screen as Waze, I think I'd like to have Waze full screen on the Mav's screen and my phone next to the screen with PocketCast there. YMMV
