I would have been grinding back old welds and re welding either side. 2 reasons.... 1. New pedal may do same as that too will only be welded on one side and (this was not the first failure encountered on a mk5 mondog so clearly an issue) 2. I’m tight and I don’t see why Mr Ford should get my hard earned cash for something I can fix. Replacing master cylinder makes sense though.

When bleeding the clutch. Is it like bleeding brakes, needing 2 people or is there some sort of one way valve so it doesn’t suck the air back in? Cheers Ben
@alan4x4 жыл бұрын
just connect a washer pipe to bleed nipple on slave cylinder and put other end into a jar half filled with break fluid...now you can pump the clutch pedal up and down yourself to bleed the system

Great video as always , slightly worried about new cars and their brake pedals now lol god only knows about the pedals in fiats and Renaults must be even worse probably some Chinese plastic you can have the best brakes or clutch in the world but not much use without the pedals to operate them 😂

A few days ago my mondeo mk5 get the new clutch flywheel dual mass slave cylinder brake pads and discs also the brake fluid was added to max by me cos was on minimum level and now while driving the clutch pedal sometimes not always after press slowly return to the top position and I don't know why. Do you think that the brake and clutch system need a bleed cos air are in fluid ??? Please tell me what you think. Regards. Jacob.

Can I please have your advice. Il willing to send a paypal contributions. Mondeo 2016 2.0diesel 6speed manual. Brought 2nd hand and problem happened from day 1. First symptoms was clutch pedal randomly sticking down. No leaks, no loss of fluid so quickly bled the system. It carried on randomly. Once every 30miles. So I bled it again extremely precise. Kept happening. So then I thought maybe the master sucking in air, so replaced the master but again something weird happened. It didn’t stick down but it hesitated a split second to return twice in 30miles. Maybe bleed it again. Have you ever had this problem
@alan4x4 жыл бұрын
hi ben, this has happenned occasionally and sometimes after lifting the pedal back up the problem never comes back...but in my findings it usually is the slave cylinder at fault. bleeding the clutch would be the first thing to hope it cures it...the way i bleed them...i put a washer pipe from the slave cylinder nipple into a half filled jar of brake fluid so no air can get sucked back...i will hold my right hand pressed down on the brake pedal and using my left hand push and pull the clutch pedal up and down 10-15 times..making sure the reservoir is topped up. after all you have already done as long as the pedal box is not broken in any way i would replace the slave cylinder if the problem persists
@bendoherty77214 жыл бұрын
Thankyou for the reply. Pedal box was fine. It only has 27k on the clock. It has already been taken apart before I got in there as you could see where bolts have been undone and one was rounded off so maybe someone has already change the master before me. If it doesn’t work il be driving to you to change the slave😂

Thankyou again. First time I bled the system I done it like a brake system. Got the mrs in the car, pressed the clutch to the floor, undone the 11mm nut, done the nut back up and then went in the car to left the pedal up. Took a while. This time I done it as you have said, 15 times. So we will see. Thankyou again for taking the time to help out

@debeeriz5 жыл бұрын
does not look too difficult, or time consuming to grind off the old weld and weld the broken part back in, saving a 100 pounds, but then there would be no parts to mark up, so i can see why you would not do it

I have many times wondered why manufacturers cannot all go down the cavalier Mk2 route. 1/2 hour clutch changes were perfectly feasible due to the fantastic design. Even the CV boots could be changed in situ without removing the driveshafts or any ball joint. Not a perfect motor but come back Cavalier, all is forgiven.

@alan4x5 жыл бұрын
hi, these lynx engines are very strong proven engines but as it is today all the emission related crap fitted to the engines is not so good but that is how it is. i really need to do a video on these engines as i could go on all night but the main thing to know straight away is does your engine have a wet timing belt or a timing chain fitted in the lower crank case..you should phone your ford parts dealer who can tell you using your registration number...if you have a wet belt fitted it is an expensive job to replace and will trash your engine if it fails

if your clutch pedal is sitting significantly higher than your brake pedal i would say the plastic rod from your clutch master cylinder to your clutch pedal has broken meaning you will need a new clutch master cylinder
