I'm glad everyone is getting so into this discussion. To clear up a few points for everyone: We chose the M2 with the DCT because with that option they come in at the same price here in Canada. The manual M2 is a big chunk cheaper, and then it would have lost and people would have called us out for it being unfair. Next, the reason the M2 won on the track was simply because of this type of track. Very twisty, very tight, lots of sharp corners. The wheelbase and size of the Mustang simply won't allow it to get through the tight stuff as well. On a bigger faster track the mustang would have had it for sure. Many have said that Colin looks like he's driving slowly and short shifting. I can assure you he is driving the tires off those two cars. He is just a very very smooth driver so it doesn't look very dramatic. He knows what he is doing though. He has many, many Autocross, Time Attack, and Karting victories to his name. Next, many have challenged the fact that I said the BMW is more refined and the Mustang is "cheap" feeling. Sadly thats the truth. The build quality of the M2 is far superior. Lastly, because this got such a good response, we are currently trying to put together the bigger brothers. The GT350R and the M4. Let me know what else you want to see! Thanks for watching.

I think on a different track the gt350 would be at least a few seconds faster than the M2 considering the gt350R is quicker than the m4 gts. Did this mustang have the track pack? What shape were the tires in? Was the driving consuming large amounts of gold medicine earlier in the day? Honestly I love the M2 but since bmw abandoned na racing engines and ford had the balls to build the voodoo and put it in a track ready mustang, they get my vote.

Currently I own a F10 M5 and a week ago I bought a GT350. It’s hard to make choices between these two cars as they are so different. After driving the GT350 for a week I think it is a very well built vehicle with massive raw power and tremendous sound. I normally don’t attract any attention when I drive M5, but a lot when I am in the GT350. It is just an awesome car.

Yes, comments are full of people who can't afford either. When it comes down to spending 50K+ people decide based on their brand preference, the deal they are getting, the example of the car being shown and the test drive. Nobody buys one over the other because of a 1.2s difference on a track test on youtube. At the end of the day buying a sports car is an emotional decision when it comes to it. A lot of thinking may happen before but nobody could ever spend their hard earned cash for a car their heart is not in, numbers don't come into it, it's how the numbers feel like.

Awesome video man. For the head to head though, I'd find it much easier to follow both simultaneously if vertically they were at the same height and in the middle of the screen and if one changes to a different camera angle at a certain part of the track and the other clip did the same It would be much easier to see the time split. Other than that I have nothing to add. Your production value far exceededs your channel's traffic, keep it up.

The GT350 Mustang is fairly limited production. The GT350R more so... though now we have the GT500 // GT500 'track pack'. Not sure what the M2 volume is these days. BMW has all these M cars now a-days! Even a regular top end factory GT or Bullitt Mustang is fairly nice with the magna ride (and/or various performance pack options). Its just the NA 5.0 (~460/480HP), yet the GT350 is NA 5.2 FPC (526HP).

If I didn't care what people thought about me I'd buy the mustang. There's nothing wrong with either one they just both come with a s***** stereotype. Mostly put in a little story...great. And then you actually put the vehicles on track and giving them throttle. Even being a German though, I'd always take the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350(R) over any BMW. I would pick the M2 if my plan is to drive it everyday + weekends. With my wife as the passenger and we would drive Stagecoach Trail going to Galena, IL from Chicago or the Smoky Mountains, I'd definitely go with the M2. Now, if I'm single and attention is what I want everywhere I drive, guess what I would pick? The Mustang will become tiresome. If I have both in my garage, the Mustang comes out to play on weekends. Also depends on where I'm going. The M2, I can go anywhere. Everyday. Fast or moderately. Without attracting unnecessary attention. The GT350 will definitely attract wanted/unwanted attention. Thanks for making the video! Peace!

You do know u have to replace the entire suspension system once per year with a BMW right... That's been true for every BMW since the mid 90s... Say what u will about the gt350 lacking refinement, it's a car You can actually spend more time driving. BMW's break constantly... Go join a BMW forum their cars are legit pieces of shit... I didnt want to believe it till I bought one worse car ever... I had a 3 series and a 5 series and those cars killed my passion for cars all together... Until I got my Mustang.

Thanks for and honest review, unlike Randy Pobst who drove the GT500 & the Corvette C8, to review the difference of the 2 vehicles, to make you decide where to put your money down. On the long Straight away in the GT500 he had Zig zagged the who way to the corner, just to slow it enough to make the C8 look as good on the track at Willow Springs. As a matter of fact surprised the C8 didn't heat up, since it overheated during Research & Development under winter conditions. Thank for the content

The cheap interior in the Mustang is why they have such badass motors, gotta cut costs somewhere to make the car attainable. Otherwise it would have a ridiculous 6 figure price tag. Nobody makes big stupid power for cheap like Ford, GM, and Chrysler. Just excellent motors will tons of horsepower eating up the streets and dragstrip. Leave the road racing to Euro guys.

Quicker or not, the Mustang is delightfully childish. It is nothing but Hooliganism! What a great tribute to the original! I really think these cars have two completely different target customers. But here is the thing that I think is important too, the M2 is easily tuned, and that is hugely appealing to gearheads. With a couple of bolt-on parts and a proper tune, it would have destroyed the Mustang in every single measure imaginable. Long and short of it, I love both of them.

Bald assertions aren't points of data. Surely you care whether or not your beliefs comport with reality, right? My e90 had 268k miles when I traded it in. All original internals. Both are amazing cars. But your last line, “...just because of everything that happens past 6,000 RPM...” Well, I would go the opposite way and choose the BMW, because I’m not driving the car hard often enough to make up for the Ford’s overall rawness. No track days, no drag races, and the smaller M2 - besides just being a nicer car - is easier to live with in the city. But again, they’re both terrific. I’d just rather have the BMW.
