I've done a coolant flush on a 2010 f150 and I've found that completely removing the reservoir and sticking a pressure washer in the top and spraying it works best. Cleans it in literally 5 seconds. And it is very easy to remove the reservoir.

Dad said the wise way to do things. And on KZbin there’s not too many wise individuals. Besides that ~ you never want to clean out part of the system after you’ve done a complete flush, that makes no sense! This right here should be the very first step to clean out the reservoir and then do the system flush.

I was a Chevy Man for 30 years. 4 months ago I ran across a deal on a 2001 Ford F250 XLT V-10 Super Duty 4X4 with 136K miles that I couldn't pass up. I have a lot to learn about Fords no doubt, as I I know nothing about them. The first thing I had to do was to take care of a huge chassis rust problem. I didn't ask the right questions when I bought it and soon found out why I got such a great deal on it when I got the title back and it said the first owner lived in Vermont. I immediately went outside and crawled all the way under the truck and saw the nightmare before me. I live in the deep south and chassis rust is not a problem here for obvious reasons. Many cans of Rust-o-leum Primer and Rust-o-leum Enamel paint later I was able to put the rust to sleep... lesson learned. So now I am concentrating on other things that might go wrong (I don't like surprises). ie. electrical and cooling systems for now, then other systems as I learn more about this truck. That V-10 has tons of power but it guzzles gas. It seems to be a good truck so far. This is great quick tip video. I have subscribed to your channel and I will go through your vids and hopefully (soon) I will be a Ford man just as I am a Chevy man.

I took my ‘13 5.0L F150to the dealer for a coolant flush. Supposed to swap the orange coolant for the new yellow P-OAT stuff. They charged for some BG flush stuff but only 2 gallons of the 50-50 yellow coolant, which was my top off. The coolant in the reservoir looked like warm orang sPOD someone had peed in. So they just drained about 1/2 the orange coolant and poured in 2 gals of the new stuff. Plus, they overfilled it to the point it was blowing out the cap. Dealers, where no service is the best service they can manage.

I had my local Ford dealer flush my old orange coolant and replaced with the new VC-13-G yellow coolant. At the end, instead of seeing the fresh yellow coolant in the recovery tank, you can see this washed up orange color. They claim that you can't totally flash out all the old coolant. In your video I can see that this is possible, if I am not mistaken. I wish I was living close to your new shop.

Wife's toothbrush? Are you giving it back to her? LOL. I found that removing the holding tank and rotating it while using the water hose works the best. Sometime ago you had a video showing a coolent extraction tool and special adapter that allows you to remove coolent/water through the holding tank, pretty slick way to service a system without removing the thermostat or hoses.

Hi, I have an 07 4.6 f150, Screw, 4x4 and I have to change my intake manifold (found antifreeze in the first couple sparkplug holes) (also changing all plugs and coils..103k miles) and also my antifreeze in the reservoir tank is brownish now, I assume due to stuff mixing. I am going to also change the oil, and trans fluid, and want to do a coolant flush.. but do I do the coolant flush before I change the intake manifold (like the day before) or do I do it after all the other stuff? And also, when I go to refill, since there will be some water in the block, do I just keep filling with 50/50 or do I try and guesstimate the amount of concentrate coolant to add then finish with 50/50?

160K ? That bottle must have been changed already. The plastic isn't discolored as it should be. Ford plastic, yellows and browns and get micro fractures (Pressure type) from use. I use many methods depending on clean needs. Usually remove. I agree the ice does work pretty well. I've used "spray 9 " cleaner with small washers or nuts to scrub (always count them). I've used electric cleaner to get some of the nasty grimy ones. That method can dry the plastic so it has to be quick and soap & water wash right after. The primary use is a refrigerator dust brush. long on bendable wire. I have a couple different bristle tensile that I use for throttle body cleaning, also. The ones I got don't melt from chems, had them for years. The blow tip is an old trick I learned but with the Milton type blowgun with removable nozzle. Then screw in brass fitting with flare nut for 3/16 or 1/4 steel or copper brake tubing. Super bendable and disposable if breaks or kinks. Just get more tubing. Can crimp the end of tube to make spray streams. I have another method but it may dry the plastic too much. Alcohol and coarse sea salt. The benefit would be sand-like scrubbing and after washed with soap and water, any stuck pieces of salt would dissolve.

On a normal bottle yes once the inside walls are clean you should flush it out with a hose upside down. This unit is part of the air box so I used my suction device to suck out the old contents then fill with water again and suck it out again al the way into the corners so it was nice and clean for refilling.

I got the same results with much less labor. Drain the coolant, fill with water and Prestone Radiatot Flush. I used 2 bottles because I had about 15 years of build up plus I had a rear heater (E-Series van). Drive around with heater on for about an hour. Drain and fill with fresh water. Drive for least 15 minutes. Drain and fill with water again. Drive for at least 15 minutes, Drain and fill with 100% antifreeze. Drive for 15 minutes. Check strength. It will probably too much, so remove some antifreeze and add water.
