I have to disagree with TCS (the Converter Shop knowing what's up) or at least their Chino, Ca branch. I called to have a verter built for my street truck and I wanted a billet unit, the TCS rep told me it was overkill and their $400ish verter would suffice. Even though I was fairly green at the time, with converters, everything I read said at the power level I was at I needed a triple disc billet unit. The TCS rep said he was so confident that the verter would hold up that he would give me a free billet unit if the $400 unit failed. I went ahead and listened to the TCS "expert" after he kept at his position and how he had years and years of first hand experience so i bought and installed the $400 TCS in my freshly built $5k transmission. That torque converter didn't last more than 100 miles before it came apart. I had to buy a new built transmission $5k, 20 quarts race fluid $300, hot dip trans cooler $50, 2 weeks of rental car $500. Remove old trans, install new trans, argue with GF cause you have to spend time on truck and not her. I call the rep and told him what happened and he wouldn't honor his prior "if it fails I'll give you a billet verter" statement cause "it was the trans that failed, the torque converter is bulletproof for your application". I brought the verter to my transmission shop and they cut it open so I could prove to the TCS rep that it failed. I showed TCS the dissected verter and where it failed and he would still not honor his statement because I didn't have his statement in writing. To me, the TCS rep had to be right in our first conversation and I didn't know anything cause I was a customer and he was an expert. I don't know if he didn't like my application or that he doubted my power level claims or what? Once, SHTF he cowered and backtracked. From a business perspective, it makes more sense to sell a more expensive component as there should be a higher profit margin. I already knew I wanted a billet unit but the TCS rep insisted on the cheaper one. I can only hope that rep is no longer there, or that TCS in Arizona doesn't have reps like him. I think it is worth mentioning my TCS story here, so whoever may do business with them in the future is at least aware of how they operated and how they possibly still operate. TCS may make good billet verters but I will never do business with them again. I have had nothing but good dealings with Circle D, Yank and Precision. For that truck, I went with a Circle D triple disc and the same exact transmission build and same race fluid. I had no problems for 80k miles when I sold truck. The new owner never reported anything back to me how long it lasted. I almost forgot, I asked for a 2,200 stall cause I had a twin screw supercharger that made power at lower RPM's and the rep insisted on a 3k stall.

No not at all. The truck has bug brakes all around and stops very well. Nothing really changed going from 37s to 40s

Kuster has nothing to do with kings... King wasn't even a word when kuster was around... Kuster was a big custom built shock back in the early 90's.. the rough riders..Chevy thunder days.. like the rancho lightning rod shocks
@4stomper2 жыл бұрын
Didn’t King start from Kuster?
@Jroracing2 жыл бұрын
You are correct and not correct. Before king and sway away og mr King and I forgot the other guys name where making kuster shocks. They split and started swayway and king separately.
@4stomper2 жыл бұрын
@@Jroracing Ok. Thanks. I’ve got a buddy who built a truck recently, he bought a set of Kusters from the dusty shelves of an old race team, they have the hollow shafts and adjusters on the end cap. He ordered King shim stacks and piston kits with o-rings. Coils and dividers fit also. The Kusters are killer shocks.
