Man testing his ford ranger while wearing his gmc hummer shirt 😊
@danroot84 Жыл бұрын
I actually appreciate that guy taking the other Ranger over that obstacle because it gives me insight without the stress and possible damage. Didn't look like he cared a whole lot either. What's the point of pushing boundaries if you never hit a wall or scrape things up I suppose. These Rangers, with the right tires, are superior to most pickups in snow too. The center of gravity and height help a lot. I have yet to get stuck anywhere and I do go looking for trouble sometimes. My kinetic rope has only been used on others, not myself yet. It's easy to see why the Aussies loved them so much in the outback for the years we went without. LOL Keep up the great videos. Without these clips most people wouldn't have any idea how our trucks would perform. Thanks!!

Yeah my Ranger got plenty of scrapes on it. It's a great platform that most people underestimate.

What size wheels and tires are on the FX2??! Nice video
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
I don't know wheel dimensions believe 17s but for tires he is on 33s as well.
@WhoTFstolemyname Жыл бұрын
In your bonus clip, the ranger you videoed was 4 wheel drive. all 4WD rangers have engine skid plates. On the non FX4 models they do not come as far up in the front. They are black and start just behind the air dam.
@outlandishoverland Жыл бұрын
Yes they do have skid plates but they are very gimmicky and a joke if you plan to do any real wheeling.

Great video. Hope you 2 guys do some overland trips together and do some videos. Just a question, surely a couple of 2-way radios would help with communication?
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I had just met him at the Expo and unfortunately he kind of stopped coming out to events and off-roading all together. Already have a big trip planned for Overlanding later this year! I have a GMRS Radio but unfortunately he did not have any radio and I didn't have a spare.

Did you have to cut the crash bars to fit the tires ?
@outlandishoverland Жыл бұрын
I just removed them, the back is easy, the front you either cut or you have to remove the front bumper in order to remove it.
@Erik-re1ih Жыл бұрын
@@outlandishoverland ok thanks. I have an fx2 myself with stock wheels. Just trying to figure this out. That’s helpful.

I have a FX4 and have compared the 4x4 with the FX4 there are way more to the FX4 then the 4x4 surprisingly! Like suspension for starters dont get me wrong 4x4 is good too but haven't found 4x4 XLT with TM system like the FX4 and crowl mode its like a cruise control for offroad it pretty cool
@outlandishoverland Жыл бұрын
Not really way more stuff. The FX4 package ($1300) comes with the FX4 skid, FX4 shocks, Rear Locker, TM System, and the trail cruise control. I have the 4x4 XLT with the optioned rear locker ($495) and ended up adding the TM system for about $80 myself. The FX4 skid plate is okay, I was planning upgrading it anyways for more protection to protect the transmission and transfer case. The FX4 shocks are terrible, that is why you have people literally giving them away on forums and FB marketplace because nobody wants them. Both vehicles in this test have upgraded suspension so it is irrelevant. So the only thing I don't have is the trail cruise control in which I couldn't justify the about $720 difference when ordering my truck.

@outlandishoverland true! Im looking to upgrade the shocks and putting a leveling kit on my ranger but also looking to put a tune on her

If you know how to drive a 2wd truck and how to set proper tire air pressures, you can almost always go where a 4x4 will. You just have to know how to drive it, different techniques. In Florida, boat ramps with a heavy boat and swamp mud are about the only places where 4x4 is a "must have" for the 1 time a year you might actually hit the button.
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely for what most people do offroad you can definitely get by with a 2WD with a rear locker.

@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, yeah I'm very particular about my exhausts on vehicles not sounding raspy or obnoxiously loud. I'm happy for it and can't beat it for the price.

Do you guys off road in South FL?
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
No, the only legal offroading in South FL is JW Corbett. I usually go up to central Florida to go offroading and going to do more so as I recently moved to Daytona from Miami.
@adamharris26742 жыл бұрын
One of the real disadvantages of the FX2 is not so much the fact you don't have 4x4, but that you don't have a low range for actual low-speed technical off-roading.

I'd like to say first you need a driver who know how to actually drive. That FX2 would've done everything without getting stuck if it had a knowledgeable driver.
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
I mean it did almost everything except the last obstacle. Considering he is very knew to the hobby he did a great job. But yes a better driver may have cleared the last obstacle.
@PeuSHINIGA2 жыл бұрын
You guys are using way too high tire pressures, 4x2's need a very low tire pressure to withstand sand of low traction scenario, both of you should probably have way less stucking moments if the pressure is lower, something around 10 to 14psi.
@outlandishoverland2 жыл бұрын
Rather not risk debeading a tire going that low as we don't have beadlock wheels. After all this is just for fun.
@PeuSHINIGA2 жыл бұрын
@@outlandishoverland just go easy on turns, I already have tested even lower pressures on sand in straght lines and they keep well, probably because my tires have a very hard compound and dont flex as much, this keeps them on the bead. Experiments for fun, it's all that matters, good laughs at the end of the day.
