12kWh battery in 20% to 80% mode means 7.2kWh usable. In winter, the battery will only be enough to heat the interior and have a range of 15 km. NMC chemistry does not tolerate well charging above 80% and discharging below 20%. At the same time, its service life under 7C load will be below 1000 cycles, i.e. 30000 km purely electric. With any luck, your battery will last until the end of the warranty.

Should've just made it an electric drive powered by a gas engine, like the upcoming ram.

@amaanahmed3747 I also like the new Ram but I'm thinking that would put this new Ranger into a much higher price point

You mean BYD Tiburon
@misif7773 ай бұрын
The new Ramcharder looks good, but the internal combustion engine is brutally overkill there 😇. Chinese PHEVs such as BYD Shark or VOYAH FREE REV 318 have their drive several generations more advanced than Ford. Their purely electric range is completely different. I'm rooting for Ford, but they need to speed up their development. This novelty was already outdated when it was introduced.

If this comes the US I'll definitely throw money at it. I love my Maverick but I need something bigger and I'm going to have to go to another manufacturer if Ford doesn't make a plug-in hybrid Ranger. The F-150 is too big. At least the Tacoma offers a hybrid option....
@jonmccormick868313 күн бұрын
Wait on the new Tacoma with all the issues right now. Maverick interior is larger than the Tacoma and may actually be bigger than the Ranger also.

@@andre899 Glad to hear it! that means if you run out of charge for some reason, your NOT Dead in the water, you can use or top up the gas to go home & charge, or go to a charging port if your country has them already.... less range anxiety than some other PHEV trucks out there... just have to sell that arm & leg... a few spleens.... & 1 captured alien.

It's fun to read comments about people in North America wanting the Ranger: I live in France, I have a Ranger for years, I love it but would like to buy a F150 Lightning instead of a new hybrid Ranger!!
@RustyShackles47Ай бұрын
The lightning is huge is the problem. A lot of people living in cities and subdivisions want a capable truck, but one that still fits in the garage or driveway. If there was a ranger lightning for under $50,000 I would also consider that. PHEV would be better if I have to go cross country, though.
@bernardfouche5241Ай бұрын
@@RustyShackles47 Here in France the government is pushing to get rid of PHEV because most of the time people do not charge at home, in the end a PHV is a heavy vehicle (because of the battery) which mostly runs inefficiently on petrol. There is also a tax on heavy light vehicles (France is extremely creative regarding taxes). Until now, PHEV weren't concerned by this tax, but from 2025 they are. Because the PHEV Ford Ranger is probably too heavy to avoid being taxed, while its battery is very small (only 45km of full electric announced, probably less in real world situations), chances are that this vehicle isn't matching any part of the market here. Since Ford refuses to sell the F150 Lightning in the EU (Norway & Switzerland aren't in the EU), since no Ford Ranger lightning exist yet, the only solution to buy an electric pick truck in Europe is the soon to be available eTerron 9 from Maxus, a Chinese EV. I'll test it in December if it's okay I can get one in February. The eTerron 9 is smaller than a F150, it's a mid size truck. Ford is laying off people in the EU complaining about the lack of appetite for EV. Strangely, the Chinese EV makers have a different point of view.

That's what I want to know as well, also if it shrunk the depth of the box. It's already a small box
@pramooktun31353 ай бұрын
since the batteries and electrical stuff add weight, there would probably a lower payload if they didnt increase the GVM

*plug in hybrid, the words plug in make all the difference. It's got a Tesla powerwall (or near enough) sized battery. That's going to run your camp site a LONG time. If you're still stuck in the amp hour past it's the equivalent of a 930 amp hour lithium battery. They may limit that to 500 or so amp hours available, but you'll never need a dual battery system again. .
@jonmccormick868313 күн бұрын
Use kWh since Amps x hours does not say much without the voltage. -You are absolutely right about a 10kwh+ battery doing almost everything for you and then you have a gas engine if necessary = perfect camping vehicle. -With an EV you may need a recharge somewhere -which you may not have.
