I have a mk1 Focus SVT, the north american version of the original ST170. I am forever lusting after a mk1 RS... I WILL do a turbo swap someday. For now, it is very well maintained, very well loved, and driven very hard. Not a day goes by that it doesn't see 7200 RPM. I had an 06 ZX3 with a 5 speed in highschool, and since then I have loved the Focus. Some of Ford's finest engineering, and that comes from a whole family of people who are FoMoCo lovers.

Estoy de acuerdo, pero el MK2 tambien participo en el WRC y gano 2 Titulos de Constructores 2006 y 2007. Lo único que le falto al mk2 fue que no tuvo pilotos famosos. A si que ya es mas especial que el MK3.

To me, the Mk1 is the nicest. It has that genuine, cool hot hatch trim: lowered sport suspension, dedicated alloys, a few subtle logos, and most importantly that turbocharged 16v. I´m a Golf GTI enthusiast, but always loved those Ford RS´s, ST´s, etc. 👌🏻

@johnboy24363 жыл бұрын
I mean, thats abit of a weird thing to say... I say it looks like the mk2 but more tame. Regardless of your opinion, it would ruin an mk2 over the twistys and in a straight line... It has better interior by MILES and is a better place to be.. The MK2 "sounds better" thats litterally what everyone says.. Sounds better... But thats it in my books.. The mk3 is modern, steering is amazing and is the best handling hatchback ever. The mk2 feels pre-historic inside.. I just couldnt buy one, so i got the mk3 RS.
@Nakke1443 жыл бұрын
@@johnboy2436 Best handling hatchback ever, lol :D the mk3 RS gets absolutely humiliated by cars like the mk2&mk3 Megane RS and Civic Type-R on track. A slightly tuned mk2 Focus RS with good coilovers and tyres also have no problem taking care of mk3's on track. The mk3 is too heavy, looks weird and has an engine made out of chocolate.
@johnboy24363 жыл бұрын
@@Nakke144 I said, best handling hatchback, not fastest... You do relise that the MK3 RS is only 218 BHP per ton... A 300BHP Focus ST is the same speed an a stock RS... a big open track like nurburgring is not where the focus RS shines as its not a fast car... However... look at any small track with the Megane RS and the Civic and the Focus RS wins everytime.. Type in google right now these 3 cars and you will see them going head to head on a small track in serveral videos and the RS wins everytime. The RS shines on the twisty back roads/small tight tracks and IS the best handling hatchback... You sir dont know what your talking about. The mk3 engine has its issues just like the liners in the MK2. The head gasket issue was solved after 6th june 2017. I would beat a Focus RS MK2 in a MK3 ST mate very easyly nevermind the mk3 RS.. The MK2 sounds lovely but handles like crap in comparison, the mk3 chassis it light years ahead.. The MK2 RS only weighs less because its FWD. There both good cars in there own right... You say good coilys and tyres... Like the MK3 will have bad tyres... With all things equal the MK2 gets smoked, even with bad tyres the MK2 gets smoked. That 4wd will be in and out corners so fast you wont even stand a chance... Your entitled to your opinion.. But dont lie.. Any small track with demanding corners.. The MK3 focus RS wins everytime. Im in the UK, have a track at my demand in Wigan. Willing to prove my claims anytime. Iv owned all of these cars and pushed the limits of them all. I eat, sleep and breath Fords.. I know them inside out. Your MK2 will not beat an MK3... Simple... Neither will a civic unless its on a huge track where speed is a factor. The civic is faster than the RS... Look any drag race against the two.. The civic pulls it back, once grip isnt an issue (off the line)... The civic is faster round a large track and wins at a 30 rolll everytime.. Same with the Megane RS... Your points make no sence. I think both the MK2 & MK3 look amazing... The MK2 looks better and more aggressive. The MK3 is more modern and more tame looking.. But still has that RS touch that makes it the RS. The interior of the MK2, i just can't. Its not for me anymore.
@focusrsjwr120i33 жыл бұрын
@@johnboy2436 Kinda agree with the other guy, its not a track car. I do regular trackdays in my mk2, and have come across several mk3's, and driven four different examples on the road. The biggest performance comparison i can give from personal experience is from my local track, Ahvenisto Race circuit, where i was over 1,5 seconds quicker then a mk3 driven by a test driver for our biggest car magazine, who keeps a top gear-style leaderboard for cars and their laptimes. To makes matters worse, Ahvenisto is a very slow and twisty track, full of second-gear corner exits, so the mk3 had all the advantage it could get. And a mk3 ST does not get anywhere close, and if you seriously think that you are delusional. A mk3 ST would need serious suspesion work and a qualife diff to be even able to compete, i drive around them in corners without any problems whatsoever.
@johnboy24363 жыл бұрын
@@focusrsjwr120i3 The MK3 chassis is ALOT better than the MK2... I understand you love the MK2 RS, i also love the MK2 RS. I owned one for several years and i bit the bullet and upgraded to the MK3 and have an ST as my daily, to and from work. The MK3 RS comes out at weekends etc... I know the MK2 inside out... why pretend like it handles well? It doesnt.. and if you think it does you need a ride along in an MK3 with a real driver. If you did beat an MK3 RS then he was an extremely crappy driver. I can promise you now, no delusions involved, only facts... a 320bhp CPv2 Collins Stage 2 MK3 ST would beat a MK2 RS in a straight line and on a track..... Not only that a Stage 1 MK3 ST wins over an MK2 RS... If you dont belive me or have a bais opinion, the 0-60 times of each car are up on the net for your leisure (Tuned and stock). I have a track in Wigan, UK. If your close ill bring my ST and RS and beat you in both.. Ill put money down too. I know 100 percent the MK2 will get smoked. Iv had all of these cars. The MK2 Focus is known to have bad handling... i had one for 5 years... The MK3 is on another level and i love the MK2 so im not bias. However, would never go back to the MK2... The only thing i would do is have the engine of the MK2 in my MK3 (purely for the noise of the 5 pot)... Which BD Proformance is currently doing and ill be looking into that when they sort it. Had a quick look at the MK2 RS and MK3 RS nurburgring times.. The MK2 RS run 8:26 and the MK3 RS run 8:06... Now take a smaller track, your telling me that your FWD MK2 RS will have more grip, be quicker in and out of the corners and handle better than the AWD system in the MK3 with a 100 percent better chassis. You are the delusional one mate. Take the MK2 for what it is, an extremely fun car. More FUN than the MK3... But it cant compete with the MK3 on twisty B roads, dude it wont even compete anywhere, some cars can.. but not the MK2. never claimed it was a track weapon UNLESS.... Its a smaller track with demanding corners, the MK3 RS is not fast in a straight line so big tracks with less demanding corners like nurburgring are not where it shines... AGAIN as i said to the other guy there are videos all over the internet showing the MK3 RS taking on all the cars mentioned above....You cant argu with facts. It can just about compete with a Stage 1 MK3 ST... As thats the only comparison id use as there both FWD, similar weight, yet the MK3's Chassis is improved.. No real petrol head would compare a FWD car to a AWD in any manner...Nvm claim its better handling LMAO. I can provide links for every claim im making.. For starters ill prove my claim first claim that a MK3 ST is faster than a MK2 RS..... type "Bluefin Remapped Mk3 Focus ST Facebook" In your search bar and watch a simple Focus ST MK3 (Stage 1) with zero mods just a quick tune... beat an Focus RS MK2 by quiet abit if you ask me, stock vs stock i think the MK3 ST vs MK2 RS Would be around the same. Need i say more? These videos also match my facts and figures people are claims with there 0-60 times. Just on a side note the MK3 ST stock run 8:39 on nurburgring and the MK2 RS run 8:26 as stated... Further backing up my claims that a simple stage 1 flashed ST would BEAT a MK2 RS in all aspects, NVM just handling. There is videos all over the net anyway proving this. Take your car for what it is, a lovely looking and sounding car... It is however, not what you just claimed.
