Ford puts those slits on the deck on the 1.5l and 2.0l turbo engines as well. They are prone to head gasket failures. Those engines have TSBs on needing a short/long block replacement and the new blocks are drilled instead of slotted in that spot.

If I remember correctly, Cleet hooked up with Tye around the first freedom 500. He needed a fabricator/ Ford guy to get all the crown vics ready and caged. At first he didn't want to be on camera. then after everyone saw his amazing work that he did on the jet boats he warmed up to the camera.

lets be honest, Tye explaining what hes doing is not only informative for the vidoe, but also just good practice for himself, as it makes him stop and preform a sanity check for what hes doing before he does it. not a bad idea for anyone building anything regardless of whats built, as long as its gonna be harder to rebuild than legos.

I’m sure y’all have researched it, but the second chain is for the oil pump. Indy performance makes a G rotor pump that replaces the oil system it comes stock with and relocates the pump to the new front cover. You can run a much smaller oil pan. Also Cwi performance makes a intercooler intake for the Godzilla. Maybe a year or two ago they made a prototype they were setting up for a procharger.

Love the vids, to remove the sound deadening you can use dried ice. 5-8kg of ice will do a car. chuck it in and cover with towels. wait 20 min It will come straight off and remove the glue also.

The Godzilla engines have a tight ring gap .... you have to open them up before boosting!! If not, 12-14 psi of boost and there goes the pistons.
@Brother2Jis_27s4
@Brother2Jis_27s4 Жыл бұрын
Probably less than that even. With the heads and cam package the amount of air they'll be moving will mean that 8-10 psi would be like 12-14 or more with stock heads and cam. The lack of restrictions will make the boost lower but the amount of air being moved greater equaling high cylinder pressure. Definitely will need more ring gap. Also needs to weld the split between the cylinders and re deck it. I can guarantee the head gasket will push right there when he's leaning on it...

Not to knock on Ty's experience, but he likely didn't assess the weaknesses of a Foxbody on his own. These are known weaknesses on this platform after 40+ years of being used in racing.

@@Avaconda1 but he did know it. That means he knows more than I do. And I’m about double his age. Not that that says anything, my expertise is on other areas, not racecars. @@deezet9518 assessing the weak points as a mechanical engineer means analysing the load paths, calculating stresses and deformations, fatigue, and then implementing solutions to mitigate the issues. This could be optimised for mass, space envelopes, etc, etc. What you're referring to is more akin to a car mechanic welding in a standard set of stiffeners for a particular model. That's the difference between an Engineer and a technician. You're the latter.

Those cuts that are in the block between the cylinders are coolant passages that help with cooling down the cylinders due to high heat from boost. That''s something Ford had learned on their small EcoBoost motors that when they crank the boost and load that they were blowing shit up in stock motors. More coolant for more cooling solved those problems.

There are a fair number of Fox body - Godzilla swaps already done with 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile ETs. Stock zilla is tuned for torque in a truck so not ideal for drag racing especially on the top end. If the plan is turbos, nitrous, etc. - better to get it set up to breath properly to take advantage now. And it will make big gains even normally aspirated.
