I don’t think it has to do with the Ford brand specifically. I think that every brand is going to start jumping on board with this type of way to make money. It’s a patent at this time and Ford said that they have no plans to implement this. Remember the more we scream the more they listen. Like AM radio they are now putting it back into the cars. We win.

In spite of continued catastrophic global market share decline, the US automotive industry continues to demonstrate their business head remains firmly inserted in their rear view mirror. Instead of focusing on reliable, affordable vehicles for consumers who are getting fiscally squeezed with the rising costs of housing, food and basic needs; they bake in more gimmicky crap no one wants. And the taxpayers are in no mood for another bailout. I drive a 99 Silverado because it’s reliable and cost effective to repair. I have little reason to hope the US automotive industry will secure the right leadership it so desperately needs. So, I plan on driving my 99 Silverado for the next 20 years.

From WC, this is why I take my 2005 Honda CR-V and 2003 Ford Ranger in each year to my trusted Independent Mechanic for an oil change and for him to check all the components of these vehicles, yes it can cost something, but usually not what even one car payment would be! I have Stereo & CDs! If I go on a trip I have my good old ( Up to date) Rand McNally, though I must to confess getting harder to find! And I have my Beeper Buddy for those Speed Traps! You know the ones where can can see for a mile, but if you are 5 mph over the speed limit it’s 200 Dollars or more, not a residential street where you should be at 25 or 30 mph!

Wireless android auto is already pretty invasive. Your phone just automatically connects to your car and your not even thinking about what it's doing with that connection. Using your internet and funneling your data to Google. But Atleast you can choose not to have your phone pair to the car which anyone who cares about there privacy should not. This sounds like you won't have a choice, pretty disgusting

Instead of sitting around thinking of what they should patent to make sure they don't have a future as a company, Ford should probably be thinking of ways to improve their vehicles, so people actually want to buy them. Ford is right near the bottom of vehicles I would ever consider buying, and they've been there for decades.
@dewrus215310 күн бұрын
Scary thing is many smart devices already do this. Anything from smart TV's, personal assistants like Alexa, and pretty much all brands of cell phones already listen...so vehicles are next. And it's not just going to be Ford. Just more reasons to keep old cars longer. Lastly, just because a patent is applied for doesn't mean they'll implement it...just means they own the patent for it. Companies do this all the time to lay a claim on something sometimes for the sole purpose to beat another company from doing it and therefore "owning" it to give them the edge...no matter if it ever actually comes to fruition, or not. If they move forward with this and enough people complain (or vote with their wallets), they'll adjust course.

Cars braking without owner applying brakes and causing rear end collisions is already a thing along with self driving who is actually at fault, not the driver the manufacturer will be held liable especially when they won't allow the actual owner of the car to disable those features...Hyundai is already in the insurance and NHTSA cross hairs...
