First car my dad bought after Poland got its independence from USSR was Scorpio Cosworth. He ADORED that car, bc compared to basically everything on the roads even in early 2000's it rode like a Rolls Royce and went like a Ferrari. He probably would still own it if some jackoff in a lorry didn't rear end him and total the car. He still talks about it from time to time and remembers it very fondly. I think I'll buy him one for his birthday as soon as I find a nice example.

I had two BOB engines second generation Cosworth limo with aut gearbox. Both were from 1995. First had dark green with raven black leather. Later a dark purple with full cream leather interior. Both were fully loaded6 all options. I loved them. My boss had an Opel Omega MV6 that time. My opinion the Opel was sportier but the Scorpio was a real limo with very huge space, very comfortable full electric memo seats, good hifi, silent engine ...

You all must to remember that scorpio cosworth was always with automatic transmission. This shift box cost always a few seconds and liters of gasoline. Musisz zawsze pamiętać, że scorpio cosworth zawsze był z automatyczną skrzynią biegów. Ta skrzynia biegów kosztuje zawsze kilka sekund i litry benzyny.

The Automatic gearboxes on the Scorpios and GRanadas just EAT Power. Throw in a manual and a turbo like a real Cosworth NEED!

I wonder if you could drop in the 3.0 V6 and manual box out if an S-Type Jag, for 240 bhp. It's a Ford block with Jag heads.

Yeah, the 3.0 last used in the ford cars was rated at 240hp too

A reasonably priced fast saloon at the time, and always a nice sound from the Cologne V6. I would, however, hesitate to push the engine like that with a 'low coolant' warning light on ... You could be looking at Head Gasket failure in the near future.

The Cologne V6 was pretty resistant to heating issues but I agree completely that with low coolant warnings (and others) driving it at all is daft. Nevermind pushing it like this.

This is a Cosworth v6 although you'd think it was a cologne giving the performance here, something not right with it I don't think

@@johnn278 Of course. But given the warning lights on the dash, it is safe to assume that the car is past its prime : spark plugs, leads - not to mention worn wheel bearings, tracking, etc. Which would account for its 'slow' acceleration.

Under full power that's quite usual. It's an instantaneous readout, not accumulative over several miles since the gauge is reset.

Slow) Bob must be accelerate 0-100 kmph for 7.7 sec, something wrong with motor or wrong combination of rear gear pair and MT-75 gear rates) My Y5A 2.3@147hp get 0-100 for 9.9 secs, MT-75 on the combi version) By the way, is manual trans installed on Scorpio from facility?) Automatic gearboxes have come a long way in the last 30 years, but the Ford 'box here wasn't even considered very good at the time. This engine always deserved a better auto transmission, or even a manual. Ford never offered either from the factory, unfortunately.

Something isn't right here, a Sierra XR4x4 will do 0 to 60 mph in 8.4 seconds with 150 bhp. This has 207 bhp and is taking a second longer.

Sierra weight 1100kg , This Scorpio 1560 kg . Automatic gearbox ang engine wasn't designed for sport travel . Biggest problem was very bad designed timing chains and actually almost 90 % of engines died .

Difference in 0-60mph of the *2.9i 12v* is: Manual: 8.5 secs. Auto. : 10.3 secs So you could expect the 0-60 time of a _manual_ Cosworth to be around 6.8 - 7.0 seconds.

I can remember thinking these were impressive in their day but the reality is a 16v mk2 golf or RS turbo would of been quicker to 60 and just as quick to 100mph.

Подтверждаю. Сиерра с этим движком на механике N-ке - 7.2 до 100, 14.8 квотер и упирается в отсечку на 5-й на 240.

@@ДневникЕгорыча +1, люди и на Y5A (2.3 147 лс) спокойно 230-240-то ездиют) А бобик с +62 лошади - че ему и больше не ехать-то?) Но мне не нравится этот движок, ибо жрет много, в обслуживании дорог и геморроен - одноразовая вещь) Как по мне - 2.3 для города более адекватен, ремонтопригоден, и даже по современным меркам неплох, а для понаваливать проще 3UZ всунуть - уже не раз люди делали - результат превосходит все ожидания)
