Ford Sync 3 Infotainment Review

Thanks Aaron for the infotainment review! I think the height and positioning of the screen is ideal for not obscuring the view of the road but still being in the line of sight of the driver so that the navigation and other features can easily be viewed/accessed. Plus having the climate control below and with real physical buttons is much better than the design in the Mk8 Golf.

Thanks for your comprehensive review. Had a C-max with Sync 3 v2.2 for about a month now and finding it pretty useful. It can send you down some strange country lanes though, and so you have to take some routes, with a pinch of salt. But it is quite accurate on showing the destination - I recently had to find a small business on a very long road, and it was v helpful . One useful feature is that it shows you what the speed limit is . I'm putting off updating the system as, apparently , this can take up to two hours to complete and has to be undertaken with the engine running for those two hours

Hi @Martin. On the HUD it's going to show you the next junction and the distance until then. It's exactly what you will see on the screen on the top left corner on green background (see minute 6:00).

Hi there mate great review I find the sync infotainment system is pretty good tbh but the problem I'm having with it in my focus titanium x 2019 at the moment is the voice on the satnav and read out loud text message option is that the voice is glitching/stammering never had a problem in the 12 months I've had her but recently this has started happening do you have a fix for this many thanks jonny 👍

Hello, I have focus hatchback active 2023.. while i was expecting it with sync 3.0 version on it but somehow it is delivered with sync 2.5 and the dealer seems have no idea about the failure and support team say it is not possible to update it to any other newer versions…any suggestions?

I read in another test one critical point and that is if you are using CarPlay it’s not possible to go back to the satnav or radio unless you uncable the iPhone. I think this will occures with Android auto as well. Pretty annoying I think and worthwhile to improve.

I used a 1TB external hard disk and everything went fine. I think system works longer than before, it was ridiculous how soon it turned off to save battery

Good review but needs to know all info and not bit part. If you access the hidden menu you can change the layout of the display to make it more slick looking. Also he needs to understand a postcode is for a whole road and not a specific location which is why it has taken him halfway down a road!

I mean you basically proved how poor this search function is, when you type a post code, it finds the town, select the town, then on every other system in the world it would as for street name then ask for house number, but on this system it’s just post code then start. To find an address, you need to type the whole thing, start to finish, and it doesn’t help you as you type!!!! The easiest way is by voice commands, read out the address. I’m still trying to find a way to search post code then street etc

@@CarObsession you should press one of the buttons on radio for like 10s this will bring debugging mode used by programmers to develop synh 3. in this mode you are able to turn one testing features which will enable you to select the skin of the navigation.

Hello Laszlog, I beg to differ as I run through the different modes, not just the sat nav. I can't really test the radio because of music copyright issues, plus it's difficult to get across on camera how good a sound system is as it won't sound the same on the video as it does in real life. The radio worked just fine, though I had no issues with it. Thanks for watching.
