Helpful video. Good to see a version of this job being done without a lift, because I don't have one. Backed the car onto some 6" high ramps and had enough room to work. A word of warning to those replacing their gas tank. Be very careful when removing those blue plastic vents, especially the one that has to be twisted a quarter turn. I snapped off one of the hose connections in the process. No auto parts store in my area could even find replacement parts in their system. Maybe my Ford dealer could get me one, for a small fortune. Had to go to a junk yard and drop the gas tank off a Taurus and scavenge the entire assembly, both blue plastic vents, with all the hoses attached. Cost only $10 but added several hours to what would otherwise be under a two hour job.

great video our 2002 sable has no fuel pump sound checked the relay . I'm headed down the same road LOL ours has 267,000 miles so its got to be time for a fuel pump .No start , has spark and tac shows movement so sensors are good . Not a sound from the fuel pump.

I realize this video was a while ago but what was the issues that led you to decide it was the fuel pump? I have a 2000 Mercury sable that cranks but won't start. If I let is set for a day it will start but quickly stops running. I guess I need to check to see if I hear the fuel pump come on. . . . I'll try that tonight

audi, all toyota, honda, nissans kia's hyundias have acceess plate under the seat, to remove the fuel pumps.. why not ford?

Because Ford isn't audi or the other brands listed and personally I would prefer the rear to be sealed off from the fuel tank. I've even seen cars where people didn't put the cover back on.... Kia/hyunda/nissan build total garbage and are about on par with yugo LOL. Though I don't like anything new ford makes anymore but the mid 90s and early 2000s most of the vehicles they made were pretty good.
