Yes, a dealer would have made some money just to tighten a screw.

Yep... goes into park just fine now! my shifter is still off a little bit, looks to be in second gear when on `drive... not worried about it, just a thing it started before the park screws loosened?

I took my whole dash apart and tightened every screw, bolt I could find and my truck (95 Explore) still will not go into park to start it. Have to find the sweet spot to find Neutral. It will not go into park so I have to be careful where I park. Any other ideas for this fix? Thank-you

It is only the one screw that works. It is up under the dash for me and for many people who have been successful. It is kind of hidden, but it is under the dash and you don't have to take anything apart to reach it. You just have to be kind of a contortionist to get to it.

You don't need to take anything off. Just get behind the dashboard and screw it in tight. Thanks for watching.

It's either called a thingamajig or a doohickey. I would go to the dealer and tell them what it is and they can replace it for not much money. They should know it or they can look it up on their computer.

I can't even start my truck now because I can't get it into park. So it's sitting on my slanted driveway with the emergency brake on for the time being. I'll see if I can do this tomorrow...thank you for your video!

It should start if you put on the brake and put it in Neutral. I had to do that a few times before I fixed it.

@@create1631 Mine is a 2002 explorer sport Trac and I don't think I've ever been able to start it in neutral. If I try that today and it starts I'm gonna be shocked! L O L but I'll try, and I'll let you know if it starts. 👍

@@create1631 I'm a little embarrassed to admit this, but I just went out put my truck in neutral and it started! I've turned my car off many times while in drive (because I'm a birder), and have never started it w/o putting it back in park. I am totally shocked! You just wouldn't believe how many times I have tried to cram that thing back in park so I would not get stranded somewhere. i so appreciate your advice, now i can drive it to the next state over and trade it in. Wow! I may try fixing it first, but can't say for sure.
