Luke Kelly No no. IS, is correct. The status of legend is maintained through death, and often not awarded until then. So, He IS a legend. WAS, would mean, he's not anymore. 👍 Now if you wanted to insert the word "living" in there, as in; he WAS a living legend, then that would be acceptable. As he no longer would be since he's dead. As awful as a human Henry Ford was, and as sorry a manager as Henry Ford II was, his (II's) comment after a ride in the GT40 was very emotional - can you even imagine what the developer of the Model T would have thought upon seeing or riding in a GT40 barely 50 years after that pioneer vehicle? I have seen GT40s in action at Sebring (1966) and Lime Rock. Incredible.

In the early 70's I was a kid shooting bow and arrow at a friend's back yard.My arrow missed the target and went thru the stockade fence into the grumpy old man neighbor's storage garage lot I had to retrieve my arrow before the old man found it and called the police. I climbed over the fence heart pumping not to get caught by the old man. I saw my arrow ran to get it and high tail it unseen, back over the fence........I heard the ring ting ring of a wrench hitting cement floor. Whatever poccessed me to not ,climb that fence to safety.......I still don't know. I went toward the sound and snuck a slow slow peek into the open garage door half open...... I saw the very very wide rear tire and opened door with the roof section attached to it. I put my arrow tight behind my back and cranked my neck to get a better view of what was going on with this very very VERY strange car. I saw the tail of the car up against the far wall tools nuts bolt and parts scattered on the floor and two guys both with large wrist watches....looking at the car and discussing their plan ...when one of them notice my presence. " Hi...it's ok you can come in ..BUT PLEASE don't kick or step on anything !.. smiling ,we can not lose anything here...we need to put this back together..." Walking passed one half of snaking exhaust header on the floor ,I said ..hi ..what kind of car is this...it looks like a Space Ship !? " It's a Ford GT40....a racing car ...we are driving it to cape cod for vacation..." Where did you get this from ? " We are from N.Y. , the old race motor blew so we are shipping it back to N.Y." Where are you going to find another motor FOR THIS ? "You know out of a Mustang or a Ford truck" "It will work" The other guy dropped his wrench I saw it land under the motor and he wasn't able to reach it...I just dove my arm under the car and grabbed it and handed him back his wrench . For 4 days after school I'd run up the hill to the garages behind my friends house, I hold a bracket retrieve a wrench hold a nut or bolt..I helped where ever I could, I watched and asked one million plus questions about the car. I've owned and restored sports car all my teen age and adult life all because of those two guys and that Space Ship..The Ford GT40....I watched it once ( hell I bought tickets before the movie came out 2 weeks before ) plan on two more big screen veiwings . I've followed the GT40 story all my life...this movie is just a personal " Ultimate Joy"
