@@piotrmalewski8178 These cars are fast as hell, compared to regular cars today. Don't forget, for example the "Ford Galaxy" is almost a 60 year old car. These cars were not ment to be used for rally racing, and despite that fact they still kick ass on a rally track. 👍🏻
@kanggoo575 жыл бұрын
@@opoxious1592 they dont kick ass lol, and dont use the "60 year old" excuse, look at ford escort mk1:s for example, theyre the same age and they totally dominate the tracks even today, this would just eat the escorts dust
@opoxious15925 жыл бұрын
@@kanggoo57 Yes they do. And don't compare Ford escort mk1's with Ford Galaxy's. Ford Mk1 is nearly10 years younger. A orginal Ford Escort did not have nearly as much of horsepower a Ford Galaxy had. The Ford escort needed to be converted to generate enough horsepower to compete in a rally race. The Ford Galaxy did not need that. So in that sense it's no comparison. Straight out of the factory, thr Ford Galaxy rules. You can't beat the power of a V8, period.

@craignehring5 жыл бұрын
This brings back some fond memories for me. Not like I entered a rally, no, but I did own or drove some of these cars. The Falcon (red&white) were very popular in the states and were the platform for what would soon become the 1964 1/2 Mustang. Them V-8's had a sound all of their own. That Fairlane would get down sized too and could later be ordered with a small 260 bucket seats as a 2 door "sports coupe" Believe me when I say the 1960 full sized fords were the widest car, perhaps wider than most, but then the 1960 cars it was all about "BIG". This is one reason as a teen, growing up in the 60's I was burnt out by the time I turned 20 (1970) and started on owning VW, then SAAB. I had a Fiat once, a 850 Sport Coupe piece of rust but fun for a minute, but we won't talk about that lol. Now that I am an old fart I bought a used RX350, yeah I know... may be the last car I never own

Well yes the Fairlane name did get put on to the "midsize" car which later turned into the "Torino" but in 1961 a Fairlane was just a "Cheaper" Galaxie...which was the same Full Size Car... Though the Fairlane did not get the top shelf Galaxie "Thunderbird Super 390", as seems the "Thunderbird Special 352" was the top Fairlane engine at that time.

Loved both of the Ford V-8 videos! There are a few people commenting that the American Fords just aren't suited to rallying (and also that the pace seems slow). I would agree that the 1961 Starliner is better in a straight line (!) but in fairness it IS a full-sized 1961 American car (or the equivalent of 12 full-sized 1961 European cars!). The Falcons, on the other hand, were rally raced by Ford in 1963 and 1964. A famous (or infamous) Swedish driver named Bosse Ljungfeldt almost won the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally in a 1964 Falcon Sprint. Rally racing is a bit of an art form since you can be penalized for arriving too early at a checkpoint as well as for arriving too late. As much as I love to see that '61 Starliner roaring around the course, I have to admit I winced a bit. They're kind of rare. However, it's obvious that the owner is getting the maximum enjoyment out of it, and that's what counts! Thanks for posting these. :-)
