Thank you. I followed your instructions, changed that sensor and after I drove a few yards it cleared the ABS light on the dashboard. 10 pionts.👍 Now, i don't know why, I scanned the computer and it still has the ABS codes. 1999 expedition XLT 5.4L 2 v Windsor 4wd 4r100. Made in November 1998

My '99 Explorer has the same code and ABS light on. I'm more than positive it's from mice/rats. A bunch of wires were chewed up on it. I had it parked for almost 5 years. Once I rebuilt the engine, the first drive was great, but the ABS light would flash when hitting bumps, then it stayed lit. I picked up the sensor for around $29 from my local parts store. I'll be changing it and repairing the wiring tomorrow morning. Great video and information. 👍🏻

My 2006 f250 with a 5.4l Just got a new battery yesterday, new alternator a few months ago. Abs light turned on until I came to a stop down the road, turned back on down the road till I lost power a couple miles later. Was running good other than a higher idle that usual. Again today abs light came on and I lost power to the dash and radio before getting back home and turned her off and tried turning it in back on but just heard the starter.

Great video. However, I just thought that I would share that after removing my entire ABS unit and checking the wiring from end to end, I still couldn't find the break in my wiring. I was ready to replace the wiring from end to end and decided to test the pigtail from the harness to the sensor. I found an open circuit on the red/pink wire with my meter, but could not locate the fault. In the end, the red/pink wire was broken right where it enters the plug, There was not enough wire left to even solder so I found a new connector online. I'm now heading back to reassemble the braking system and bleed the brakes. What a hassle!!!

Give the sensor a quick wire brush before removal to avoid debris getting into the diff. Great video

On my 2008 f150 the rear abs sensor resistance measured open...ie; mega ohms, so I ordered a new one thinking it was bad, because this video says it should be 1-2k ohms approx. But the new sensor measures the same ie; mega ohms. it was a different part number then quoted in this video.

99' isuzu rodeo, no speedometer or odometer. This same sensor was interferring with the vehicle speed sensor on trainy, once the abs diff. sensor was unplugged it showed a abs light on dash but my speedometer started working again. Original code was po502 low voltage input.

I ran FORScan on my 2001 ranger and it comes up with this DTC. However my ABS light is NOT on. I've tried two OEM sensors and they all have a resistance of 800ohms... not sure as I keep reading it should be over a thousand.. When I hook up my OBDII reader I can spin the front wheels and see the MPH/graph going on the OBDII... same with the rear diff sensor. It does read MPH on the reader as the wheels turn. So it's definitely getting a signal. Checked voltage at the plug and also getting a reading... Have no clue what else to check because the ABS light is not on and brakes/ABS work fine when driving?

I have a 2002 F250 4WD with the v10. It randomly throwing the ABS light but goes away on second start up and stays off for a while. Codes when it came on last was C1198 and C1214. What could cause those?

Brian, can you do a video on ABS problems i.e., brake pedal going to the floor after checking all other possible causes. I'm having that problem on my 06 Explorer and I'm considering an ABS delete. My 95 bronco has had this issue for so long, i have replaced so many things on it, and when i shift to 4th my bronco jerks back and forth, and my speedometer jumpes everywhere, ill try replacing this sensor, thanks gor clearing it up for me

@@alexhinojosa331 yes, it was, also didnt help that the tone ring, what the sensor reads, was missing teeth and was not reading right, also the jerking bqck and forth was the trans going in and out of gear from the bad reading from the sensor

You're a good mechanic when u go from a guy who can change parts to a guy who can do full diagnostics. As for me, all my trucks are so old that as long as the part is under $100 and its not hard to replace, I assume its about to fail anyway and I will just run my scanner and throw parts at it all day. 😅😅 I replaced that sensor today, while I did visually inspect the wire, I admit I only would've checked the wire signal if the code didn't go away. It would've been the last thing. Not the first. I wouldn't have felt bad about needlessly replacing the sensor either.

Great video, i did as you said replaced my sensor, checked wires etc. Speedo has been working flawlessly until 60mph. As soon as I hit 60mph my abs light flashes at me and my speedo drops down to 0. Any ideas on what could cause this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Almost the same issue here. Did you figure out the cause of the funny speedo? I have a 2002 Ford Expedition 4WD, and my speedo acts like yours, with no abs light except a flash like yours.

My 2004 explorer did the same however I got the 🔧 light and service engine turned out to be the transfer case and transmission hope yours isn’t as bad

Awesome video love your videos. I'm having abs light coming on issue not all time, usually it comes on after bunch of bumps on road. I have 3 wheel sensors 1 in rear 2 on front I replaced all 3 the light comes on a whole lot less but still dose come on after a considerable amount of miles 50+ miles or so. I will check wires next. But my question is what kind of computer scanner do I need to see the live data like your showing in your video? I don't have ton $. But it needs to show live data as I'm driving so I can see exactly what is going on with any electrical issues I might be having. I think that abs screen would have saved me couple hundred bucks it would probably pay for itself. What model computer you use? Or recommend thank you for reading. I got a navigator 04. Mine comes on usually in cold weather. Anything below 50 degrees I have to warm up the truck for about half hour or else the ABS will engage driving down the road. I lose power and the breaks will do it's intermittent breaking. Still not sure what that is.

We have a 2000 Ford e450 based class C motorhome with this sensor. It appears previous owner messed with this connector you have in the video. Would this cause the BRAKE light on dash to illuminate? Fluid isn’t low, and I replaced the little sensor on the e- brake pedal and still light is on? Thanks

OEM ford wheel sensors 40 bucks for rear and 80 bucks a peice for front. I used oem for rear and napa front sensors. I wouldn't recommend buying aftermarket seeing those wheel sensors tell your transmission when to shift your putting to much trust into that Amazon junk. electrical components might be wise to use oem or equivalent brand name. 95% of us can do it ourselves and save on shop labor so put savings towards oem parts. You can thank me later. My truck has 335k and abs sensors were original. You'll have to let us know if Amazon ones last that long lol just saying. Appreciate the videos you make its real help. Ty

No code yet, but abs light is on for a few seconds after the engine is on. I have a generic scanner and have plugged it in when the light is on but there is no code. I will try the information here and hope this will fix it, thanks for the cool video.

it's normal for abs light to turn on briefly when the ignition is turned on. hope this helps.

How do you check the D.S. front wheel speed sensor on a 98 Lincoln Mark 8? Front brake job done but at 10/20 mph the car does a self test and is now dragging the front brake. Pulled the under hood relays for ABS, traction control to get it home. No chain store can order me the sensor and my local Ford dealer says" not available". Which with this dealership is no surprise! Any direction on obtaining a new sensor or checking the one in the front? Of course with the relays pulled, no speedometer signal, constant error message on dash display.

I have a truck ford 150 v8 5.8 model 92 The problem I have is that my truck turns well but when you put the change, as it loses strength and the trasmicion begins to fail and almost does not give up. as you want to turn off the engine and replace your fuel pump and will still like me can help. BRIAN!!! i need help, my 1994 f250 7.5 and on the dash it says (rear abs sensor) i replaced the sensor and no change. when i turn on the truck the speedometer cluster doesnt show my mileage, and the speedometer doesn't work. the truck doesn't shift worth a damn, it's all over the place. when i unplug the sensor there is no change. so it's either a bad wire or the speedometer??? is there a way i can check if i have a bad wire with an ometer??? please help...

Hi Brian, Always watching your excellent videos... Did you use some sort of Y cord to do that while the ecu was connected to the sensor? Checking the pulse from the ECU is a good idea, which wasn't identified in my factory manual. I had this issue with a 99.5 F250. The transmission tow light came on, the speedometer was bouncing all over the place in addition to the check engine light. I was able to push the button to get the transmission out of tow mode and realized it was likely a sensor. I drove half way across the country to get back home, scanned it, and per the manual, checked the wiring and the sensor. The sensor was toast (infinite impedance with the ohmmeter).

I've got a 1999 Ford Ranger with 4 wheel ABS. For the past year I've had a code for the left front wheel signal input missing, I forget the code number. Using some scan software (Fordscan via OBDII), the signal is truly missing, staying at 0 no matter how fast the vehicle is moving. I've changed the sensor out and the harness but it still is missing. Hey brian i got a leveled 2014 f150 so my pass side uca balljoint was clunking bad so i got new mc uca an installed it myself with one friend. Long story short with 2inch puck spacer ontop of strut tower its almost impossible to get strut tower out so i pulled hup an bottom balljoint an when i put it all bsck together i got traction an abs light hooked up scanner it says front pass side input circuit failure. I ordered another one incase i stretched it pretty good by accident do you think thst will sum it up.

Hi Bryan. Great video. I've been pulling my hair out and have replaced the VSS twice with a new connector to try and fix my erratic speedo and transmission shifting issues, (w/flashing OD light. '95 E-150 351 Windsor). This last time I felt inside the mounting hole to see what the differential gear (that is driven from the diff. The small gear), felt like it was smooth, but, unlike the last time I felt it, it felt as though a piece had been broken off. I see online that these are pretty common and are actually made of plastic(?). I assumed the sensor was a mag pickup but if the gear it reads from is plastic, how does that work? Can these small gears be replaced easily? I'm taking it to my mech and we will discuss it but I wondered what your thoughts are. The forums haven't helped so far.

ok since were talking breaks I just had to replace my emergency breaks on my 2004 f150, my first problem I couldn't get my wheel off of the hub then I couldn't get the hub off of the spindle I had to take a big hammer the tire then a puller to the hub only to find out that the break shoe de lamented its self from the metal hardware, are you seeing this in many trucks, and keep in mind these are what came on the truck when I bought it new in 2004.

My 2005 f150 has been parked in my driveway since it went into limp mode oct 2017. The mechanic didn’t have the time to troubleshoot so i have been trying to fix it myself. The freeze frame trigger code is P2106 which is the throttle actuator control system but the main dtc that pops up on my scan is c1230 which is the rear center wheel speed sensor. I’m lost with this stuff and don’t know where to begin. Does anyone have any suggestions?

@@RideShareConfessions . it does this on purpose ("Limp Mode") basically its trying to avoid you from ruining your transmission or rear differential . since most likely one of the wheel bearings is not good the.abs speed sensor is integrated to wheel bearing and when the tires turns sends signal to your computer
