OK....this guy really has his shit together. I've been to BAJA 1000 twice and always wondered who built all the cool off road stuff. Now I know. Can truly appreciate his skill level and attention to detail, that is important, for his craft. Old film trucks are super cool. JT: Orlando FLA

The older Ford 1967 - 1972 "Bump Side" trucks are cool. However, I personally favor Ford 1973 - 1979 "Dent Side" trucks. The original Big Foot truck was a 1974 Ford F250 4WD, 360 V8. The older Chevrolet / GMC trucks were the last to have a crew cab configuration. The first crew cab truck in the U.S. was made by International Harvester in 1957 dubbed Travelette and later followed by Dodge in 1963, Ford in 1965 and Chevrolet in 1973. Also interesting to note that Chevrolet and GMC were the last to have a "cab and a half" configuration. Dodge rolled out their "club cab" in 1973 and Ford followed in 1974 with the "super cab". Chevrolet and GMC were late for that party, not offering the "extended cab" until 1988. The 1967 - 1972 Chevrolet and GMC "Action Line" trucks, for many reasons, were the best GM ever built. These trucks by far had the best body style, and best suited in 4WD versions for rim, tire and lift modifications, mainly for the rounded wheel wells which allow for larger than OEM stock rims and tires with only a moderate lift. The GM "Square Body" trucks arrived in 1973, making it difficult to install large tires with moderate lift, thus compromising the "center of gravity". The 1967 - 1972 Chevrolet and GMC 4WD trucks were all built with either the Rockwell or New Process 205 transfer cases. However, these trucks never rolled off the assembly line in the "crew cab" configuration. If you want a 1967 - 1972 Chevrolet or GMC "crew cab" truck, you will have to have it custom built. Rtech Fabrications is the best shop by far doing this work and is located in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. www.rtechfabrications.com/ The 1973 GM 4WD trucks all had NP 205 transfer cases. The BAD thing regarding the 1974 - 1979 Chevrolet and GMC 4WD trucks is this: GM 4WD trucks with the TH 350 or TH 400 automatic transmissions were only available with the "piece of junk" chain driven NP 203 transfer case. In order to get the stout "bullet proof" gear driven NP 205 transfer case, the truck had to be equipped with the SM 465 manual transmission. The 1967 - 1972 Chevrolet and GMC 4WD trucks were all built with either the Rockwell or New Process 205 transfer cases. Ford on the other hand predominantly built all of the their 4WD trucks with the NP 205 transfer case, behind both the C6 automatic and the NP 435 manual transmissions. The worst thing ever to happen to both Chevrolet and GMC 4WD trucks occurred in 1988, with the new IFA axle and low stance with low hanging frame rails...neither conducive to good, much less great off-road capabilities. The IFS axle has poor articulation (wheel travel). The low stance results in poor approach, departure and breakover angles, and the low hanging frame rails can cause the truck to "high center" on uneven terrain off-road, especially in mud and snow. Add the square / rectangle wheel wells caused the proverbial "round peg in a square hole" (round rim and tire in a square / rectangle wheel well).

Spot On!!! Big Blue is cool with 4WD and SRW...and the flatbed with PTO winch. Big Red needs a few alterations. First, cut off the running boards, Second, cut off the lower portion of the front fender, both front and back. Third, custom build streamlined saddle fuel tanks with built in steps, paint white to match the top of the cab. Fourth, convert to 4WD and SRW. Fifth, add a PTO winch up front.
