The f250 pn96 7lug is still ifs not a solid/straight front axle
@hunterbrock23475 күн бұрын
The 7 lugs trucks never had a straight axle but it's worth mentioning that that was a shared oddity with many of the HD Econoline vans nearly until the end of them being built as passenger vans. Probably worth mentioning that Chevy had the 1500HD on the market at the same time. I don't get it personally but hey, they aren't coming to me for opinions and answers on how to build things for the masses.

In California it was cheaper insurance premiums with a F-150 with the HDPP than an F-150. But this comment is mainly geared at the 11-14. The EcoBoost will pull more than it safely should.

If you ever look at the full wheel covers (hub cabs) on an Econoline of the same years, the ones with the "exposed" lug nuts have 7, not 8.

lol the 7700 250 is not a straight axle truck. i actually accidently acquired some 7 lug rims thinking they were going to be five lug ford. then i went to put them on and was like wtf.

Yeah, the 97-99 1/2 ton F250/00-04 F150 7700 lb GVWR trucks were good truck. I still work with a guy who drives one. I've actually owned a 7700 GWVR truck for about 15 years now, and it's been the best, most durable/reliable vehicle I've ever owned, but it's not what you think. It actually has the 7700 lb GVWR package, but uses 5 lugs in of 7 lugs like every other truck with the 7700 lb GVWR package. This packaged gave you a beefed up frame, much bigger front brakes, I mean there's a lot of little things different that makes sourcing the right part important. The 99-04 Lightning got the 7700 lb GVWR package but kept the 5 lugs that the regular F150 had. It's the only 5 lug/7700 lb GVWR trucks. (nope, Harley Davidsons did not get the 7700 lb package to my knowledge) The Lightning was also the only 7700 lb GVWR truck with a RCSB configuration. Basically this means a lot of small stupid shit like the main parking brake cable for example is unique to it, and can be a straight B that has an itch to source parks for when things like this get broken by tire changing companies and whatnot.

I remembered seeing one of these for the first time last month and when i saw the 7700 badge i thought it was just their base work truck model. Shouldve seen how disgusting my first impression was when i saw the 7 lug wheels. But honestly i think these were supposed to compete with the silverado 1500HD at the time when they came out. 8 lug truck with a the 6.0 from the base model 2500s, and the heavier duty chassis and payload. Im not aware if dodge ever made a competitor but i do know very well that GM made alot of variants of the gmt800 platform. Possibly made to compete with the quadrasteer payload capacity who knows

I have a 99 f250LD and it’s easily the best truck I’ve owned i would like to run a different wheel/tire setup but id have to either swaps the front hubs and rear axle or run adapters from everything I’ve seen it’s a whole lot easier to run the 5lug hubs instead of the 8lug if you run 8 lug you’d have to change out a lot of stuff to SD stuff but if they need to be replaced anyway then go with the 8lug swap
