Great video Andy. The shrimp is one of my most successful mullet flies. I caught my 1st GG on one a few years back and have never tired of the relentless, bloody, painstaking pursuit of them since :-)

Great video, thanks for sharing. One tip, why don’t you tie it at the end, put dubbing and then pull it over the back of it, this way you not cutting it to short and will safe material, you won’t run out as fast on the shellback 😊

Cheers John. I tied them like that to begin with, then got told off by Charles Jardoine who said the finish is neater when you don’t do the overfold. But you are right…..🤦🏼♂️(PS love your tying vids too).

@@FordyGoesFishing thanks for the kind words. 😊. The pattern you tied looks perfect and I followed your video to tie some, just thought you would save on material by leaving it long and then when you fold it over then you would not run the risk of having a piece to short and will save on material, they are expensive as it is 🫣🫣. But overall I really enjoyed the video and helped me when tying my ones 😊💯💯💯💯💯💯

Why don't you just tie the whole piece of shellback in and cut it after folding over, that way you won't waste any
@FordyGoesFishing2 жыл бұрын
All I can tell you is I got told off by Charles Jardine for not tying the shellback in like that :) If you fold it back over the thread at the end, then trim it off, it causes a hump. This way seems to make it all lie a little flatter.
@flickingfeathers2 жыл бұрын
@@FordyGoesFishing no,I mean why are you trying to cut off enough for a single fly? You could've just tied in the whole couple of inch piece you had and then cut after tying it off. Then you'd not waste any, and certainly wouldn't just cut a bit and throw it away because it was too small.

Too fiddly.
@flickingfeathers2 жыл бұрын
@@FordyGoesFishing maybe you should try it, hard to see how it's any fiddlier than trying to make it work with only they tiny wee bits.

Please tell me best baits for mullet fishing
@FordyGoesFishing2 жыл бұрын
The best bait is probably bread, although maggot as work well I'm told. I've never actually used bait to try and catch them though as I fly fish for them.
