Used forfront top mount on my 2011 d22, Stock one was leaking. Fitted perfectly. Also used forfront d40 hot and cold side intercooler piping and the fitment and quality is perfect. Been on for 3 years now. WIll use forfront when the stock intercooler starts leaking. Compared to other brands that want $1000 plus, forefront is a great option.

I put one of these in my car. Pretty straight forward to install. The egts are down a little which is a bonus really. I only replaced mine because the cooling fins were trashed on my stock hilux intercooler and i wasnt gonna put a plastic one back in. I paid 350 for mine. Pretty happy with it. Also ive had my hand on it after a drive on a hot day and the outlet side was definitely cooler then the inlet side.

any significant power increase? or even fuel efficiency? thanks

I recently installed one on my hilux and absolutely love it, dropped my temps about 3 degrees, as soon as I'm off the gas you see it work it's magic, can't fault it personally, but have got me thinking about maybe trying to lift the front end a little!

Hey Anth! Paid $350 for the forefront intercooler after the stock one started leaking at the plastic seams. Stock clips all fit fine with mine and runs little cooler as far as EGTs go. Seems more reslonsive as well. Was conaideeing a front mount setup, but happy with my outcome sonce i wasnt chasing more power etc.

The edges of the tubes wear air goes through look quite Square I used to like intercoolers with a more of a pointy tapered Edge for the wind to blow through a bit better helps with cooling I think.

Why not go front mount intercooler? I got one on my lux and it’s real good when the old girl is running hot and under heavy load like towing
@andrewlund38862 жыл бұрын
I put one on a couple years ago. Seems fine around town, can’t really notice much of a different tbh. But on long flat drives out west I noticed my egt were sitting higher than before at low rpm and almost tripping garage alarm. Almost like it needs higher rpm and boost to bring temp back down compared to factory one? I don’t know enough about it all to draw a conclusion

I'd like to know your thoughts on a front mount intercooler conversion for a 1KD Hilux. Are they worth the benefits, in your opinion? I acknowledge that reliability and quality may not be the level of toyota genuine. The typical cost for these seems to be between $1500 and $2000 based on my research

Looks like a pretty neat bit of kit, cast end tanks is premo. The cast end tanks would be the expensive part of it, would probably be cheaper to weld up traditional end tanks but that means you can't have nice mounting bosses, tapped holes for your sensors etc. So personally I reckon the proper cast end tanks is nice, much better than most of the plate end tanked stuff from China. I'd suspect that the core is from China and maybe the end tanks are cast here and it all welded together here

So far, so good ! The ute is much more responsive but , of course it got injectors as well.

Hey mate everybody says about the same thing without the intercooler so as you know unfortunately we can’t give the credit to the intercooler this time 😉✌️
@jenkodiesel57682 жыл бұрын
@@Fourby4Diesel yeah i know but less back pressure means better airflow , no two ways about it but your dead right, you can’t have a conclusion when you change more than one thing at a time.

That top mount intercooler was a no 'other option' from Toyota re. placement. Its function is minamalistic anyway due heatsoak. Has to be in the airflow. Problem is radiator, aircon h/e etc. Still a big design challenge....
@Sparky_D2 жыл бұрын
An actual upgrade would be to get rid of the top mount I/C for another design. Heat rises, especially when going slow off road (when the engine is generally working hard) which destroys it's efficiency. Air to water is the go

Possibly engineered here, made in China, no Australian phone number would suggest its not an Australian company though and based somewhere else, welds looks good though.
@andrewlangford882 жыл бұрын
But yeah, as a product design engineer I reckon it's alright but probably hasn't been properly tested on their own vehicles. A few of those little bits and pieces you mentioned should have been picked up in test fits etc. This wouldn't fly at the company I work with (completely different products but that fit and finish on our products would be no go)

complaining about that clearance to an injector clip when the intercooler has a thicker core but still direct bolt in? Looks like a good design with clearance to me. If you lifted the core up by the brackets then everything else would be off....like bonnet to intercooler spacing which would of course equal further issues.

If you are going to do some testing put some intake air temp sensors before and after, and pressure sensors before and after and see if it's got more or less pressure drop than the factory one as well as intake air temps
@davydacounsellor2 жыл бұрын
Just thinking would you need to adjust the turbo to allow more air to get pushed through.

good question..

Can you get the all terrain industries and the forefronts industries and do a comparison video both well known for cheap coolers in Australia just cause something is bling doesn’t mean it work better

from drag racing diesels in my own experience, proving fuel economy tests, dyno proven hp/nm results top mounts are crap! as soon as you stop motion the top mounts heat soak rapidly, dyno proven less the 60kmh the top mounts are not effective! front mounts are consistent to keep ambient intake temps and at speed even 1-2degrees below ambient. physics and air density.
