Awesome insights into the IMG journey. I was just amazed that 'locals are not afraid to ask'. I think there are shy, unassuming locals who will take whatever terms are offered just as there are also IMGs who ask in a way that anticipates success. As a Director of Clinical Training who grew from a shy, undemanding local RMO many years ago, I find it quite confronting when any JMOs (including IMGs) me what terms to allocate to them. . You don't need to grovel, but do acknowledge that rotations will not be perfect for everyone.

@@rizojehan Well I am glad you are finding our content useful! We do have a website www.codeyouaustralia.com where we list step by step all the pathways. If you go to "work in Australia" and read on competent authority and specialist pathway . Sounds like you will end up through the specialist pathway

You can't see the light at the end of the tunnel when you are going through it- we have all been there. We need to do more of these success stories because its what truly motivates IMGs and moves them away from all the negative stories. Best of luck on your journey. Just keep going !

Thank you so much! This comment kept me going, and now, 2 months later, I have received 2 internship offers. Two months ago, I couldn't even imagine having one interview, and now I have the privilege to choose. I believe I played my cards right, and all I needed to do was wait for my time. I'm not celebrating just yet, as you said, I need my limited registration first to even think about celebrating, but I'm hopeful now. It's all because of IMGs like you who help other IMGs and make their lives easier with such valuable information. Thank you so much. Now, I need to decide if I should go to a WBA hospital or a hospital where the director of clinical training was so supportive even during the interview.

WOHOOOOOOOOOOOO, 2 internship offers- that's incredible. Decisions decisions. For me, I just knew I couldn't study for AMC and work full-time but lots of people do. Having a supportive clinical director also changes things. I guess I would decide based on what you think you would be capable of. Like for example, a supportive clinical director won't make a difference if you are struggling to study for AMC 2. When you finally settle and if you are interesting in a podcast about your success story let us know :) congratulations @@5SOSIndia

@@codeyouaustralia Absolutely, you're spot on! Right now, focusing on general registration is my priority, and later, I can switch to a different hospital for my practice. I'm thrilled at the opportunity to join your podcast and assist fellow IMGs facing challenges, just like I did. Let's talk about it!

Can you please make a podcast giving information about non-clinical residency programs for IMGs? Or is it through the same standard pathway?

Do you have to clear any exam to get into registrarship? Other than AMC1&2 .
@he45188

To get on to a training program, you may need to pass an exam: it depends on the Specialty College. To step up from RMO to (non-training) registrar, you just need your supervisors to think you are ready.

In India there is One year mandatory internship in the medicine curriculum itself , So what Job role should I apply after passing AMC 1 in australia Is it still called internship ( 47 week one ) or PGY 2 ? I am little confused in these terms can you please reply !!
@codeyouaustralia
@codeyouaustralia Жыл бұрын
Yes your mandatory internship is equivalent to PGY1 here which is an intern..so you would be eligible to apply for PGY2 roles..these are junior doctor roles
